Dear Gary,
This is not really a subject much addressed in Kabbalah, at least not in "traditional Kabbalah." I have seen lots of speculations on this topic from a variety of angles, i.e. in the writings and compilations of Joscelyn Godwin, e.g. in his "The Harmony of the Spheres: A Sourcebook of the Pythagorean Tradition in Music" and "Music, Mysticism, and Magic." The closest studies to music being addressed from traditional Kabbalistic perspectives are "Music and Kabbalah" by Matityahu Glazerson, "The Mystical Power of Music" by Avraham Arieh Trugman, "Inner Rhythms: The Kabbalah of Music" by DovBer Pinson, "Music and Kabbalah: Music as the Vehicle for Mystico-emotional Expression of the Jews" by Michel Laloum and "Jewish Musical Traditions" by Amnon Shiloah. There is also an excellent essay titled "Music and Kabbalah" by Moshe Idel published in "Contemporary Jewish Religious Thought: Original Essays on Critical Concepts, Movements, and Beliefs" by Arthur Allen Cohen and Paul R. Mendes-Flohr. In this regard you might also consult the chapter titled "Music and Ecstatic Kabbalah" in "The Mystical Experience in Abraham Abulafia" also written by Moshe Idel.
A Kabbalistic work in which you can find material perhaps more directly relevant to your query is "The Kabbalah of the Soul: The Transformative Psychology and Practices of Jewish Mysticism" by Leonora Leet. I will try to find more specific information on this topic and get back to you later.
