Ukraine joins NATO and Russia gets Donbass and Crimea.

It seems fair quid pro quo to me.

Why should Russia be rewarded for it's unjustified aggression and war crimes? Fair would be Russia withdrawing its forces, all of the responsible parties rounded up and sent to The Hague, and for reparations to be arranged.

I wouldn't take military hazing rituals to be a representation of such a massive old country's culture, though.

Historically, Russian culture has given the world the works of Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Pushkin, and Tchaikovsky, in addition to Yuri Gagarin's flight, among other things.

I see Russia the same way I see other powerful countries with a long, checkered history and a large population. I hope it manages to get rid of Putin's regime and adopts more peaceful policies when he's out of power (and hopefully tried for his crimes). His reign has been a reprehensibly low point for the country morally, politically, and intellectually.

Honestly, I don't get you at all. As a jurist, I would have assumed that evidence was the most important thing for you in making judgments -- and the evidence is in, Donald Trump is simply dreadful is just about every way possible. He lies continually -- no compulsively, even when he doesn't need to. He stabs his friends in the back, and abandons his benefactors. He uses and cheats people much worse-off than him with perfect equanimity -- how many employees, lawyers, buyers of his wares have been cheated of the money he owes them?

This man is worse by far than the lawyers you were just yesterday excoriating.
