Pullout foes vow to march to Gush Katif after Ofakim rally

Tensions are running high in Ofakim on Wednesday evening as settler leaders vowed to march towards Gush Katif immediately after the conclusion of a massive anti-disengagement rally in the southern town.

Settlers will be allowed to march until Peduyim junction, located to 2 km. west of Ofkaim in the direction of Gush Katif. There they will be met by wall of security forces that will stop them.

Cmdr. berti Ohayun, head of police operations, told The Jerusalem Post that the forces were prepared for violent clashes with the protesters. "It is easier for us to stop them outside of the city," he said. According to Ohayun, "Here [Peduyim junction] we can control them and if there are clashes we can better protect and defend the perimeter."
