Well it'll be interesting to see how the evaluation turns out. Given how his bizarre views are also shared by a number of sitting Republicans, perhaps it should be "mental health evaluations all around!"

I think that should be a general hurdle for anyone entering politics. The problem is that it may eliminate most of them.

Can you imagine having candidates' mental health evaluation results prior to an election?

Although I doubt it would matter to Republicans....they don't trust science anyways.

I sometimes wonder at the sanity of anyone that wants a job like that.

I can understand why they mistrust anything that calls for a rational evaluation of facts.

True. Most of the politicians that I've met are rather narcissistic, at least the national ones anyways.

    They prefer "alternative facts". :p

Just looking at how abnormally some appear to age during their tenures seems to indicate how draining the job is. Actually, that might be an indicator of how seriously they take the responsibilities of the job. I did notice that Trump did not seem to change much.

I've met a few prominent politicians, and they all have told me the same thing. The actual job of legislating isn't terribly taxing; it's the constant fundraising that dominates their time and wears them out.

I can see that. It seems like the biggest part of the job too.

LOL! They really need to do more tests on that stuff.

Mental health is a requirement for a lawyer but unfortunately not for a politician. And I don't see a majority of politicians who want to change that. (And probably not even a majority of voters.)

I expect politicians to have well-developed egos including believing that their policy prescriptions are what the country needs and everyone should agree with them. And sadly I expect them to pander to the ones that give them money.

But what gets me going is the level of hypocrisy and gaslighting we're seeing now. Blue lives matter but not shaking hands with a cop who put his life on the line to save Congressmen during the insurrection? Deliberate gaslighting about Obama's birth certificate, Biden's clear win?

Pro-Trump Lawyer Lin Wood Loses Lawsuit Over Mental Health Evaluation

The bar asked Wood to undergo a mental health evaluation as part of that investigation, as the organization’s rules state “mental illness, cognitive impairment, alcohol abuse, or substance abuse, to the extent of impairing competency as a lawyer” are grounds for being disbarred...

This raises a more general question. Do people who believe as he does about the election suffer from mental illness or cognitive impairment to the extent of impairing their competency to vote in the next election? Should people with mental illness or cognitive impairment be allowed to vote?

    Very true.

Hypocrisy always has been part of politics, but you're right.....what we're seeing today seems on a whole 'nuther scale.

So, it's OK with you if I take my 95-year-old partly senile grandfather to vote after telling him, repeatedly, to vote for all candidates who are (D) and, if in doubt, to look at the "cheat sheet" I made for him.

When the alternative is considered, yes.
