Unless it's done quickly the window for it will most likely close.
Someone or someones -- possibly in full awareness of what they were doing -- leaked news of the talks to the large media outlets. That means Trump was notified of the talks in their very early stages, and was given the opportunity to push back almost as soon as they began. Draw your own conclusions of what the odds now are that they will go anywhere. Technically speaking, it could still happen, but Trump now has the initiative.
Anyone have a straight-jacket handy? Or perhaps a gag would do.

And not just for the danger he poses...the disgrace
of being "25th" out of office is richly deserved.
