Let's see, so what your saying, is that you chosen your mother and father, your mother and father didn't chose you, but you chosen your mother and father.

So God being the Father, So you chosen the Father, The Father didn't chose you, but you chosen the Father.

So how does this work, that you chose mother and father, before you were born.

    Huh? Tongue twister

If I had an adopted mother who raised me and then as an adult I meet my biological mother I have the choice to refer to my adopted mother as my mother or choose my other mother because of biology.

I would chose my adopted mother. She has "elected" me as her child and when I understood this (age of reason?) I chose her.

    Likewise

Yes, you chose the father. But for you to be his elect, you have to let him do the work after you say yes. You arent saves by your doing in this case but by your fathers. You chose your father because

    He already chosen you. (Predestination)

Did he chose you or did you chose him?

I believe that God fully planned for each and every person that He put on this planet to spend eternity with Him. That said; it is up to each and every person that God gives breath to each day, it is up to us individually to accept that calling/predestination and follow Him with thanksgiving and praise each and everyday. IF, we live by His 'rules' and spend our lives loving God and our neighbors we can consider ourselves to be one of those 'predestined', what ever that really means.

I think the important thing to realize here is that God is in control and EVERYONE is an important part of God's perfect plan, Jesus said love your neighbor as yourself not just the very few (if any) people who are like-minded like yourselves.

Man is born into this world blind to the fact that God is in control so man takes on the many duties of God for himself deciding for himself what parts of God's perfect plan are good and what parts are evil giving rise to sin, death, and the power of the devil. No shame/sin in this as God created man perfect but lacking the faith to realize it. When God gifts us with faith (at a time and place of God's choosing not ours) we open our eyes as a new creation into the kingdom of heaven overcoming sin and death and the power of the devil no epic battle required. Such is the power of the gift of faith, and such is the love of our God.

    Blessings!

Look, before you came to be here, on this planet, God predestinated you to be here on this planet.

Yes, before man was born into this world.
God predestinated man to be here before the foundation of this world was ever brought into being.
That's what Predestination stands to mean.
A time before this time came into being.

The concept of "sin" and an omnipotent God cannot coexist. If God is omnipotent, sin is totally invented by men pretending to speak for God.

Just because can do anything doesn't mean He will do everything. God allows free will by humans.

That's right, Just because God is all knowing, doesn't take away that God can choose not to know things before they happen also.

I'm starting to percieve that some people will never understand faith because they are just not equipped for it. Their make-up has predestined them to be clueless to the mysteries involved.

I know what it means, but I'm asking what do people think it means.

If you take the word ( predestinated) get to the meaning, that will tell you what it means to be predestinated.

The problem is not the dictionary definition; rather, the problem is if people think this is true:
    From dictionary:
    Theology.
    1. the action of God in foreordaining from eternity whatever comes topass.
    2. the decree of God by which certain souls are foreordained tosalvation.
Just because some think this to be true does not mean it is. While God has preordained things to come since the fall of Adam, this does not mean that my actions by me today were preordained or that I was preordained to exist. It could well have been that my ancestors had been killed before they were able to have children precluding thus my coming to be.

In this then, we have what is preordained, predestined, and what isn't. Some people think that God predestined and preordained every small detail we have in the world today. He didn't. Such a teaching does not harmonize with the reality we live in.

God didn't for say, predestinate since the fall of Adam.
But God predestinated us way before Adam came into existence and the foundation of this world came into existence.

Ephesians 1:4,5--"According as he ( God) has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will"

This means, that God has chosen us in him before the foundation of this world came into existence. Which is before Adam came into existence also.
Therefore God predestinated us before the foundation of this world came into existence.

This means that we were with God before the foundation of this world and Adam came into existence.
When you read Verse's 4&5 that's what those two Verses are saying.

Seeing God chosen us before the foundation of the world. So if God chosen us, that means we were with God, for God to had chosen us before the foundation of this world came into existence.

Some misunderstand what 'foundation of the world' means because they haven't studied what the scriptural teaching is on this simple subject. And, before you take offense, please read what the scriptures say here at this link. It is the fifth point on this page.

It is a fun little study: link: Truth Seeker - Trivial Questions

Look i go by what is written and not by what someone else will say.
It's easy to see and understand what is written in Ephesians 1:4,5.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
If God chosen us before the foundation of this world came into existence.
That means we were with God, for God to had chosen us before the foundation of this world came into existence.

Why people have such a hard time with this, when it's very simple to see and understand.

Maybe it's because people don't see themselves existing before they came into this world.

Surprise, surprise, there was a time that we existed before this world came into existence.

Are you dense? I provided scriptures. So, go study scriptures.

If you still think differently - fine with me, end of discussion.

    Isaiah 46:
9Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
10Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

What will become of all is known beforehand.
Our choice is involved, but God is able to bring us to the correct choice.
God has decided what will be, and will cause it to happen.

Even those who have their "part in the lake of fire" will be "saved, yet so as by fire."

A quick skim of scripture might make it seem that some were made to be saved and some to be doomed, but that it not what it actually says.

Only the firstfruits are called during this time -and will be raised to the first resurrection. Those raised to the judgment after the thousand years are not without hope.
They will be judged according to their works -not specific beliefs -and the works of some have been good. Those whose works have not been good will be saved "yet so as by fire".

It is possible that both body and spirit may be destroyed in the lake of fire -God is able -but that is not to say that is what will happen.

The word of God was written "line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little" -as the "mystery of God" -not to be completely understood until the days of "the voice of the seventh angel" of Revelation.

It is not impossible that all which has gone wrong (God gave the creation over to futility in hope) can be made right.
God is as a refiner's fire -and his mercy never fails. Choice is involved, but God's choice supersedes all others.
He brought us into this, and he is responsible for seeing us through it.

Will there be free will in heaven or will we all be predestined to do God's will?
