Like the mail, we wait for Jesus --
cooling his heels, he rises through epochs.
Out our window the air falls all day long.
Needing his missives,
staring at the approaching sidewalk,
we give up, yawn and say,
"No mail today."
Then glimpse him past us, disappearing down the block --
bare feet pressing wet roses on concrete.

I think I get the gist of the poem, but I don't grasp where Jesus is in Hinduism. Is this looking at hims outside of that context or within it?

'miss'ives, 'side' walk, mm hmm So we're expecting Jesus to come in instead of going out to greet him, and so he passes by.

Don't try to make sense of that, this just reminded me of the Elvis song. ".... address unknown. No such number, no such zone".

Or could it be a wonderful analogy of Jesus getting lost in the mail ... or "male"? Maybe "no such zone" suggests that there are no true Christians, so Jesus is universally rejected? Nah.
