Should pornography be bannes? If so, is it because or partially because it exploits women?

Sure it is, if you are being paid to do something you are being exploited for your talents/services. Even if you're in business for yourself.

That is not the definition most people use when they say "exploited."

You seem to be thinking of: make full use of and derive benefit from (a resource).

But when talking about people the definition tends to be:
use (a situation or person) in an unfair or selfish way.

benefit unfairly from the work of (someone), typically by overworking or underpaying them.

Well then I don't see how this applies to porn then. Porn actors are paid very well for a few hours of work, well the women do anyways, the male performers get paid a fraction of what the female performers get. But that's off-topic because this thread is about whether or not exploits women, not men. And apparently by either usage of the word "exploit" it doesn't exploit them.

Of course there are always exceptions, but in general, and compared to just about any other low wage job, porn is not exploitative.

And in the end, this is all just semantics so it's not even worth arguing. You're not arguing for or against a particular argument, you are arguing the usage of a particular word.

I didn't say it did, I simply stated that I thought your definition was too broad and inaccurate.

Porn is fantastic! Especially gay porn :3

I like gay male porn so long as it doesnt have anal (which is rare). In straight porn the women are attractive, but the guys are definitely not, so I stick with lezzie porn for the most part. My ex-girlfriend was absolutely obsessed with gay porn though.

I don't think it should be banned, yet, in a lot of cases, it does indeed exploit women.

Porn that should be banned is already illegal: Child porn.

I'm a fan of homemade porn. The professional variety feels a bit too contrived for my taste. I believe prostitution general is something which should be regulated, but not banned.
