Porn Exploits People

I think it’s time that people wake-up and realize or remember that porn is not healthy or harmless. It is not “good or nice”
Bodies are not commodities to be used, abused, brought and sold or viewed as merchandise for one’s selfish pleasure.

Those are some of my thoughts. Express yours if you like.

So if I write porn using fictional characters, who am I exploiting?

If some people act in a porn film and that's what they've always had fun doing, who is being exploited?

If someone poses nude for photos and enjoys that, who is being exploited?

Having consensual sex is not exploitation just because it's on video or paper.

If I want to sell my body, it's my business and no one else's.

Although most people pay me to put my clothes back on!

It's religious prudery masquadering as a human rights issue.

I suppose anywhere money is be made abuse is possible. Politicians don't like to publicly talk about porn, run on a platform of dealing with abuse in he porn industry. Too many hypocritical religious voters. So none of the abuse really gets addressed.

Kind of sad that society looks down on the people in the industry. Victims of abuse can't really turn anywhere for help.

It is prudishness about sex that causes deviant sexual attitudes. Are you arguing that still greater prudishness will make them go away?

Porn itself is just the video, written or spoken act of a sexual nature sold to another that is interested in the media. Porn itself is as harmless as Movies, Books and Songs. It is how people create it and how people use it that can make it helpful or harmful. The biggest problem with it is that a large portion of the populous see's it as a sin. We burn/ban Movies, Books and Songs for the same reason's through out history. We have never learned that it is not the media but the people that need to adjust. When crimes are committed to produce or use a product, any product it is only the criminals that should be punished.

What's my point? If there is money to be made people will do it. it doesn't matter what that is.
If you're trying to say that people only make porn because there's money in it you'd be wrong. There's not a lot of money in porn unless you're a known star; it would be absurd to say you're making porn because there're no other options; there's always basic work at fast food or cleaning somewhere. The second reason is most people enjoy making porn, the same way I enjoy writing porn. Many porn sites are free and use advertising to finance themselves, not paying porn actors and actresses with piles of gold.

You mean all porn is not healthy or harmless? Because if you don't your generalization here is meaningless. And if you do, we await your evidence.

It is not “good or nice”
And I think it is good and nice. Now what? Your opinion is better than mine because _____________________________________________________ .

Bodies are not commodities to be used, abused, brought and sold or viewed as merchandise for one’s selfish pleasure.
They certainty shouldn't be, but your implication that the bodies of porn workers are needs a whole lot of supporting evidence. So whatcha got?

I think you're simply parroting a lot of fundie, anti-porn rhetoric without thinking it through.

I didn't say that people do pron because there is money to be made. I said that "if there is money to be made people will do it".
Some people are satisfied by porn and need nothing else. And some people see porn as a way to make money.
Have you ever heard the term "sex sells"?
What do you think that means?
It means that if you play on the most basic of instincts you will sell whatever it is you're selling.

Yes, I understand, but what is your point in relation to the thread? Does this for some reason mean porn exploits people?

“Bodies are not commodities to be used, abused, bought and sold”

You need to tell that to corporate America.

It's all about the money.
No it isn't. Simply look up "amateur porn." Or go to Pornhub, which is mentioned in your linked article, and type in "college party." There are thousands of unpaid porn performers. And as has been pointed out, unless you're a porn star there's truly very little money to be made.
