Are you left wing or right wing?

You cannot sit on the fence and be a centrist you have to choose between either being a lefty or a righty :D

Personally I'm confident that I'm on the left.....

I'm more in the center, but since you didn't offer a choice for that, I guess I'll side with right-wing. I realize that this forums is filled with atheist left-wingers and I'm fine with that. In fact, many Earthseed shapers are left-wing too. While I do believe God is change I believe change needs to happen slowly, and that there's already a lot of good things about my country that I don't want to lose either. My religious affiliation is by no means a reflection of my political affiliation. My ISideWith results peg me at about 70% Libertarian, 60% Republican and 40% Democrat.

I've never been a centerist, though until recently I was generally happy and open to reasonable compromise because it is a wise way to accommodate human diversity.

Then we had a psychopathic narcissist of a "president" who is about as far from a public servant as one can possibly get. And then we had the big lie and an insurrection, plus the undermining of democracy that entails. And then we had half of our people stripped of the most fundamental and basic of all human rights - the right to bodily autonomy. That's the one line you never, ever cross with me. Ever. No more being nice, no more compromising. War was declared against my life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Not having it.

It's too hard to fly with only one wing, so I'm an independent.:)

However, I do lean left on probably most issues.

Well, I refuse to bow to your authoritarian poll, so I won't vote. The center for the win and death to the flanks. ;) :D

Everything depends upon the issue, & what is the

Economic conservative, social liberal. This would currently put me closer to the left than to the right here in the US.

Well, if you're a bird, or an airplane, depending on only one wing is pretty sure to be a disaster.

I'm sure we've all got sufficient brain-power to be a little more complex then just one side or the other. I mean, it may be that you think government has a place in working towards the betterment of individuals in need (that's generally "left wing"), but you might also think that government has no place in telling a business how to run itself (more on the "right wing" side). Can't you be both?

And it can get much more complex than that -- our worlds (America, Canada, Mexico -- or a combo -- Europe, with or without Britain -- and on and on) face multiple problems that need to be addressed. And I don't think you can get there by deciding "I can only be A or B, and nothing else."

I know it seems complicated, sometimes, but I can consider multiple issues, and decide on each of them individually, without committing myself to one "side" and have to accept that side's answers to every question.

We're all smarter than that, if we want to be, and if we give it a little effort.

Don't tell me what I can and cannot do. I didn't vote. Ha!

And I'm pretty far left according to the political compass.

The question presents a bit of a conundrum. Which Left, Right or center? Over the years they've shifted considerably, especially the Right.

Given the two options, I've never had much in common with any right-wing views, so not voting for them.

    A couple of questions:
    • Who made up that rule?
    • And is the social context the U.S., Europe, Great Britain, or elsewhere?
    • And how do you define those terms?
    • And how would you classify John Doe, adamantly supportive of LGBTQ rights while strongly opposed to liberal immigration policies, or his sister, Jane Doe, an impassioned advocate for socialized medicine while being harshly opposed to abortion in all but the most extreme circumstances?
    • And, finally, why would you presume that the "Political Debates" forum is a reasonable venue for such a poll as opposed to, e.g., "Journal" or "Jokes"?
On second thought, ever mind ...
