-Raspberry Pi 4B: Where were the quality controls?

-Your new Raspberry Pi 4 won't power on? USB-C cable problem now officially confirmed

-'The Raspberry Pi 4 Needs a Fan' - Slashdot (According to this, Pi 4 pretty much needs a fan cooling it - a statement I may agree with as it gets hot)

-Shortly after I made my post detailing the positives and negatives of the Pi 4 I got to try and rating the setup a 6.5/10 overall, praising it's use as a Desktop Replacement, my Pi board started having terrible audio issues

So I'm posting this in the Consumer Affairs board to further educate people on Pi 4 and the current luck-of-the-draw, while neither discouraging them fully from buying one, nor discouraging them from choosing to buy a competitor board like the Odroid N2 based on that 2-8% chance their Pi board may not work well.

Looks like I'll hold off on a Pi4 for awhile. Or I might try a different board as I wasnt too very happy with my 3.

Does tinkering with Pi and similar boards require experience with Linux?

Novice experience, yes. But if you're computer savvy, you can either learn by experience or read articles or books.

I'm going to restate that while the Pi 4 does some things well, it currently doesn't make a good emulation box, as well.

And one thing Im wanting to make is an arcade style box with appropriate sceen (hdmi wont do) and interchangeable controls for a joystick, ball, and steering wheel. The Pi3 can more than do it, but the one I have is prone to crashing.

The Pi 4 will have problems not so much due to hardware (well maybe due to hardware, hence this thread), but because the emulator writers actually have to rewrite their emulation software for Pi 4, and that will take months, as they weren't given sufficient notice Pi 4 was coming.
