Philsophy of Light Upon Light -- Holy Prophet (s.a.w.), the Puriest Recipent of Revelation.

DawudTalut

Peace be upon you.
Peace be on you.
1)- According to worldy philosophers, human, in ancient times, did not know anything about God. These early human saw mountains, trees and rivers nearby and thought why not appoint them as their gods. Then they kept taking the higher natural phenomenon as omnipotent god. Latter, they thought these visible things cannot be god, lets think about a god which is invisible………. Such thoughts are capable to creat doubt that e.g, for perfect God, speech is necessary then doubt is created: Why does He does talk to everyone? Only Revelation from God can dispel such doubts.

2)- There is variation in capacities of human. This variation is present in physical powers and also in spiritual capacities. Both vary from crudeness to very refined:

A) Those who are refined and pure and excel in virtues, God talks to them if He chooses to do so. Prophets are the purest people they get revelation. God is Al Qudus (The Highly Pure). Light falls upon Light.

B) There are those who are weak; they ignore the call of bestowed inner light which warns them when they do evil. If they immediately repent (Istighfar) for bad thoughts, deeds or weaknesses, they are saved. God is Forgiver since Ever. It is the true Salvation.

3)- Purity of self is vital for receiving Divine Revelation. Holy Quran explains this issue with an enlighted example:
“Allah is the light of heavens and earth. The similitude of His Light is a lustrous niche, wherein is a lamp. The lamp is in a glass. The glass is as it were a glittering star. It is lit from a blessed tree – an olive – neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would well-nigh glow forth eventhough fire touched it not. Light upon light! Allah guides to His light whosoever He will. And Allah sets forth parables to people, and Allah knows all things full well.’ (Al-Nur, ch 24 : v 36)

Parts of above verse explained:
Allah is the light of heavens and earth… In above verse, it means all light whether in heights or in lows, in souls or in bodies, internal or external, is due to His grant. It points that Common-Blessing of Lord of worlds (Rabbil aalaa’min) covers everything. He is the Source of all blessings, lights and mercies. His Being is Holding all universe. He is Shelter for everyone. He drew everything from darkness of nothing and granted them attire of existence. Except Him, there is none who is absolutely compulsory and eternal. Earth and heavens, human and animals, stones and trees, soul and bodies, all exit due to His Common Blessings.

The similitude of His Light is a lustrous niche, wherein is a lamp… It points to Special-Blessing. It is a conditional blessing which is for very special people who has ability to receive that. These are the perfect selves of Prophets. Among them, the highest, the greatest , the one with all blessings is Hadhrat Muhammad, the Chosen one (peace and blessings of Allah be on him). This Special-Blessing is a profound truth. That is why Allah has stated it in terms of understandable example of Hadhrat Khatam ul anbiya ( peace and blessing of Allah be on him) so that people of simple minds may understand it too.

The example of this light is like a lustrous niche; it means open bosom of Hadhart Messenger of God (peace and blessings of Allah be on him).

Wherein is a lamp It means revelation of God.

The lamp is in a glass. The glass is as it were a glittering star… The presence of lamp in purest glass means, Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him)’ heart is extremely pure (muqqadas) and like purest glass, it does not have any impurity whatsoever and is pure of any relation but relation with Allah. His heart shines like extremely shining star whose internal lights flows at its external.

It is lit from a blessed tree – an olive… The blessed olive tree here means the blessed being of Muhammad (s.a.w.) which is the sum of various blessings because of his comprehensivenss and excellence. His (s.a.w.) blessing is not particular for any side, place and era but it is for all humanity - for always.

neither of the east nor of the west… It means that the pure nature of Muhammad (s.a.w.) has no excess or shortage but is perfectly balanced and its composition is the best.

whose oil would well-nigh glow forth eventhough fire touched it not… Oil means enlightened and fine faculty of reason (wisdom) of Muhammad (s.a.w.) alongwith his all natural high morals. These high morals are grown from the pure spring of perfect wisdom of him.

Oil would well-nigh glow forth:
i) Revealtion descended upon the excellences of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.)’s heart. These excellences became the cause of coming of revelation. And
ii) Revelation came in accordance with his balanced excellences which were present in his heart. Its explanation: All revelations come in accoradance with the talent of a Prophet. Hadhrat Musa (Moses, peace be on him) was majestic (Jalal), Torah came with majesty accordingly. Hadhrat Esa (Jesus, peace be on him) was gentle and soft (Jamal). Accordingly, teaching of Injeel is based on gentleness. But nature of Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) was extremely balanced (Jalal and Jamal); he neither practiced gentleness nor majesty for all the times; his blessed nature decided wisely, according to the situation at hand. Accordingly, the Holy Quran was revealed which is comprised of firmness, mercy, kindness and rigor. It is balanced like the balanced nature of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) for whom Allah said: ‘And thou dost surely possess high moral excellences.’ (ch 68 : v5).

Eventhough fire touched it not:
It means that faculty of reason and all moral excellences of the Purified Prophet (s.a.w.) were completely balanced and enlighted of such degree that they were ready to shine even before coming of revelation.

Light upon light… There were many lights gathered in the blessing being of Hadhrat Khatam ul anbiyya (peace and blessings of Allah be on him). Upon these lights, heavenly light i.e. divine revelation arrived. And because of this arrival, great being of Khtam ul anbiyya became Collection of lights. Light comes according to existed light. It does not come on dark hearts. Existed light in Prophets is more than ordinary people. Holy Quran calls Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) the light ‘Nur’ in (ch5 : v16) and bright sun ‘Sirajam Munira’ in (ch33 : v47)

Allah guides to His light whosoever He will. And Allah sets forth parables to people, and Allah knows all things full well… Guidance is sent to those who are deservant in the eyes of Allah. God explains difficult subjects with examples for ease in understanding. He knows through His eternal knowledge that who will understand these examples and choose the truth and who will not.
