It's good that he sounds sorry. It takes a big man to apologize / admit a mistake. One of us should still probably dance in his yard in a two-piece just in case, though.

Blaming others (girls) for their lack of control, is such a sign of weakness. Same I see in America blaming Putin for their mess in elections.

I hope America learns the same lesson soon too, like this Pastor. They have been exhibiting this behavior far too long.

Women please gorge yourself to make your bodies disgusting and unappealing.

Men, don't go to outings with unattractive women. Go to Daytona Beach instead.

    Problem solved.

Maybe I’m misremembering, but was it Jesus who said something to the effect of
“If your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out.”
As pleased as I am that this Pastor was man enough to apologise, there’s something kind of creepy about the situation for me all the same. Like why are taking extra special notice of young girls bathing suits? Ehh, Chris Hanson vibes much?

Pastors think about this sort of stuff way too much for my comfort.

Interesting response from this Pastor.....but it reflects the ways of the world, not really the teachings of Christ. (1 John 2:15-17) Modesty in our dress has always been the Biblical recommendation.....and with good reason. Teaching teenage boys to be “men” is like asking a dog not to salivate over a piece of meat. Teenage boys are not men and maturity will hopefully be achieved as they “grow up” (but sadly some never do)

To expect teenage girls in bikinis not to arouse teenage boys is a classic case of wishful thinking IMO.

What is a bikini after all? Aren’t you placing colored ‘flags’ on those parts of the female body that males find attractive? Should not the girls do their part in not offering those temptations in front of immature males whose hormones are over-active and self control is not yet developed? A dose of reality is needed here I think. Christians need to follow the Bible’s advice and not follow the ways of the world.

For a pastor to make this apology, I’m sorry.....he should be making it to Jesus IMO. (1Timothy 2:9-10; Philippians 3:17-19)

So his apology to the boys included a sexist insult, eh.
    What a **********.

    This.

Nice that he apologized, but even that apology is cringe.

An unfortunate and all too familiar parrot squawk.
Making girls ashamed of their bodies and blaming them for the bad behavior of boys rather than actually teaching them manners and holding them accountable for their own actions is simply an imbecilic thought.

I love breasts as much as anyone else but for the life of me I do not understand why they get sexualized in non-sexual contexts like swimming, or mothers who breast feed, or even sun tanning.

I'm gay. I've been in a bazillion situations where I'm going to see other women's breasts. I totally love boobs, like, a lot. But to me, context matters. It's not sexual or arousing when it's just someone doing something mundane, and that's how it should be. People make things sexual and therein lies the problem. Sometimes boobs are just boobs if someone is literally just trying to dry off, or change outfits, or avoid tan lines. Can't ask children to grow up about it I guess because kids are kids, but adults certainly need to.

I think its good to remember teenaged boys are not dogs... I was a teenaged girl once, and I'd say the vast majority of teenaged boys were respectful to me. There were a few who were not, but you'll find jerks in every crowd. I can't say I was treated this way because I dressed modestly... I certainly did not.

My friend from Mali has told me that in Mali, mothers often roam around without tops. This is sometimes for breastfeeding, but sometimes just cultural. She said no one ever bothers them or sexualizes them... it is totally taboo to treat someone's mother like that. I wish it was like that here.

Me too. Same with wearing bras. I frequently don't depending on what I'm wearing (or I'll wear a sports bra) because I'm not well endowed and they annoy me, but people still sometimes stare. Heaven forbid there be the outlines of breasts and nipples. Insert eyeroll emoji.

It's one of those "problems" that society creates for itself and self-perpetuates for nonsense reasons.

Also re: the bras thing. I remember in small town schools so much as having *gasp* a bra strap visible was scandalous.

I hated that everybody assumed I was 'showing off'. I am unfortunately well endowed, and sometimes its embarrassing. Like being told that I need to 'cover up' because I'm being too showy, though in reality, on anyone else what I'm wearing would be totally normal.

I remember being a teen, and coming home in an outfit I'd designed and partially sewed myself. My mom's friend was horrified. It was kinda sexy, though my intent with the outfit(along with most of my clothes) was an artistic outlet, not to garner sexual attention. Thankfully, my mom had the right attitude. She laughed, and told her friend "She doesn't even know how to flirt!(It was true...) I'm not worried about her." And she changed the subject.
