Pascal's Wager?

My problem with Pascal's Wager

If god makes his decision of whether person X goes to heaven or hell based on the assertion of X, wouldn't this assertion have to be sincere rather than an expediency? In other words, would mere lip service as to god's existence be enough?

Personally, I would think not.

Agree, but I think PW is hopeful that someone living as if a god exists...would eventually believe one to exist, and be genuinely pious. My opinion, only.

I find Pascal's Wager a fun intellectual exercise.

I agree. Unpacking implicit assumptions and uncovering hidden fallacies in the wager was my first real exercise in critical thinking.
