I post this here because they're using evolutionary biology to do it.
You're all familiar with atavisms, the emergence of ancestral traits. They are why we sometimes see people born with tails or snakes with legs. They are also very common during embryological development. Chickens, as embryos, have fairly long tails. Then a gene activates and the tail is reabsorbed. Same thing with their wings, they try to develop as hands first. These scientists are trying to deactivate the genes that cause those reabsorptions, creating what they call "chickenosaurus".
It's one of the coolest things I've seen, and I look forward to their results.
