'A PAKISTANI policeman killed a man with a cleaver over blasphemy allegations years after the victim was acquitted of the charge by a court, police said on Saturday (3).

Waqas Ahmed faced trial in 2016 over a Facebook post, but was acquitted.

The policeman, Abdul Qadir, resented the verdict and attacked him with a cleaver late Friday (2) in Rahim Yar Khan city, Punjab province.

“He was planning to kill him since 2016 over the allegations of disrespecting Prophet Mohammed,” police official Rana Muhammad Ashraf said.

Ahmed Nawaz, a police spokesman, confirmed the incident, adding the victim’s brother was also injured in the attack.'

Its a shame to see an innocent Pakistani killed by a member of the police force (or anyone else for that matter) in my opinion.

This type of Islam is going to have to reform, if they want any hope of joining the rest of the world in significant trade or the exchange of people and ideas and good relations. Maybe they don't want that, honestly.

Still, as time passes there will be fewer and fewer places, communities, or countries remaining where "kill everyone who doesn't think like my in-group" is going to work out very well. That mentality is a relic of an earlier period of humanity, and we're quickly leaving it behind in the dust-bin of failed ideologies.

Its not just a shame. It’s a crime. A Capital offense which demands immediate trial and severe punishment assuming the now-ex-officer is found to be guilty. It also demands an immediate dismantling of their “justice” system, that would bring a person up on blasphemy charges at all.
@AlexanderG is correct…

Theocracies must not be allowed to stand. They’re obvious and immediate threat to all of their citizens is undeniable. Their basis of silly mythology as a foundation for “facts”, and those ‘facts’ as a basis for laws through which “justice” is attempted in their courts (and in the minds of their citizenry), are a dangerous and horribly twisted farce.
