26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion....

In my view the tone of the early verse in Genesis is that we have "dominion" or the capacity to make decisions that affect the planet... and with dominion comes responsibility.

You have a lot of gall. you post something clearly designed as pure snarkiness designed to poke fun at believers. When you are called on it you whine about ad hominems. You are disappointing

I couldn¨t disagree more. I believe that many planets throughout the universe are inhabited by intelligent life. They did not rebel. That is why what is going on here is so important, an object lesson for the universe on free will run amok. Aliens don want to come here, it is akin to a sailor wanting to visit an island where the people all have the plague

It means make wise decisions that maintain the earth.
i don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, but... You're saying that you take care of the earth in your own way or is this just a crap stir?

"Imperfect"? What the heck is being "in the imperfect"?

:D And the meek shall run and hide from the wise. I'm sure Jesus is very proud of you.

I'd bet good money that shmogie has a backroom full of them.

Well, it doesn't mention the earth at all, just its animal life.

And so far humanity has done nothing of the sort, unless one regards using animals to its own purposes as maintaining the earth. In any case, animal life doesn't seem to be benefiting at all from our assigned tenancy on earth.

"Just to illustrate the degree of biodiversity loss we're facing, let’s take you through one scientific analysis...

The rapid loss of species we are seeing today is estimated by experts to be between 1,000 and 10,000 times higher than the natural extinction rate.*

These experts calculate that between 0.01 and 0.1% of all species will become extinct each year.

If the low estimate of the number of species out there is true - i.e. that there are around 2 million different species on our planet** - then that means between 200 and 2,000 extinctions occur every year.

But if the upper estimate of species numbers is true - that there are 100 million different species co-existing with us on our planet - then between 10,000 and 100,000 species are becoming extinct each year.

*Experts actually call this natural extinction rate the background extinction rate. This simply means the rate of species extinctions
that would occur if we humans were not around.

Not talking about taking care of the earth. The scriptures only addresses animals.

    Genesis 1:26, 28
26Then God said, “Now let’s make humans who will be like us. They will rule over all the fish in the sea and the birds in the air. They will rule over all the large animals and all the little things that crawl on the earth.”

    28. . . Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the air. Rule over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Just to note: This is post 28 and only one person feels Genesis 1:26, 28, THE REASON GOD PUT US ON EARTH, is worth taking seriously.

In Genesis 1:26, 28 it says god created us so we would "rule over all the fish in the sea and the birds in the air. . . . rule over all the large animals and all the little things that crawl on the earth.” Rule over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Interesting, this fear of confrontation. :) But hardly surprising.

To me, the rule it, is a caretaker role. Be responsible for them, care for them, make sure that they are protected and helped to survive.

Instead, we see a propensity to get a gun and kill anything that they think is a great animal, just like Nimrod did. Totally against the edict.
There was a great find recently off the east coast, they try to keep the location secret unless it would be raped by companies for the fantastic resource there. This resource creates a habitat, an ecosystem, for a great diversity of fish. Just beautiful. But, the first thing we think of is - how to make money off its destruction.

No wonder God is promising to kill off nearly every human being on the planet. 90%+

I'm here on earth because my parents gave birth to me. I cannot speak for others, though.

It seems pretty self-evident that the living creatures of this planet are subject to our whims. We have the superior capability. The presence of more organisms than you can count doesn't change that in any way. The monarchs of human nations ruled more people than they could keep track of, but they still ruled over people.

If faithful intelligent life elsewhere did Not rebel then there would be No reason to settle the rebellion sin issue here on Earth because it would have already been settled elsewhere. Earth will set a precedent for all of the universe.
Then, during Jesus' millennium-long day of governing over Earth we will then learn more about God's purpose once the issue of divine Sovereignty is settled once and for all time to come.

Monarchs of human nations rule over people, and as per Proverbs 29:2 says when the wicked rule, people mourn.
See also Proverbs 29:12 and 2 Chronicles 7:14.

We now live in a time when there are two ruling at the same time, parallel rule between to governing bodies:
    (1) Men's rule and (2) God's kingdom rule in the hands of Christ Jesus.
I find according to Daniel 2:44 that God's kingdom government will be the victor.
So, now is the time to choose who we want as Sovereign over us.
Follow Jesus' rule and repent as per 2 Peter 3:9, or side with men's kingdoms in which there is No salvation.

At Proverbs 6:16-19 lists things that God hates. God also hates violence according to Genesis 6:11; Psalms 11:5,
and God hates lawlessness according to Psalms 5:4-5. So, the reason God hates is because the lawless and violence people cause trouble for the righteous ones.

Just as if you had a beautiful house that became infested with rats, you would Not burn down your beautiful house but you would have the rats exterminated. So, for the 'sake and safety' of the righteous ones the executional words from Jesus' mouth will ' exterminate ' the wicked as per Isaiah 11:3-4; Revelation 19:14-16, besides Proverbs 2:21-22.

Are humans here to eat other animals and just to be in the top of them?
why God wanted other animals to be eaten by humans? while some animals do kill and eat humans.

    Hello @Skwim

    The answer is simple.
We are being commanded to rule over ourselves.
Since we as humans are made from these kingdoms,
if we rule over ourselves, we rule the world.
    simple.
