I guess that in the meantime, before you become self realised, you are going on faith in what someone said, and hope that it is the truth.

Some do, yes. Others have had an experience that offers a glimpse of the truth.

Is it from philosophy or from what God said?

Said? What God?

If people claim to have reached that goal I guess it must be a wonderful experience but I wonder if it is really absolute truth or just something beyond what they have experienced.

That is indeed quite the pickle, no doubt. :)

Be your own guru
Well, every one here knows that I am an enlightened person. It is a nice experience. When completely understood, it is not a pickle, it is as clear as spring water.
Where does this absolute truth come from?
In continuation to what Salix said .. from Science.
You are still in 1st Century and not in 21st.
I can't be. So I just follow it....at a safe distance.
But at times you jump in. :)
