OP..You have taken the first step when you cannot take the words seriously. not of of them at least
The second step, IMO is to return to the siMple and start reading from the very beginning all the words, like a child. Throw out all the ones that
make you hate, make you mad, make you jealous, make you fearful, make you feel guilt-laden, make you feel big and arrogant or make you feel small and helpless, make you feel better or more holy than your neighbour, makes your tribe feel stronger etc etc etc
Then tell us what you find?
.and if you did that for every copy/version from every religion as I have, you will get to the same place, but if I tell you where it is, you will say I am leading you , IMO
