I dont believe Jesus as God but I do take biblical stands from a Christian viewpoint at times, and I have one for this topic.Oddly enough I have a little personality in me that is Christian, or takes a biblical stand at times and at times I can get on my pullpitt and preach.

My Dad was a Primitive Baptist and sometimes I wonder if I would not fit in with his church except my feelings on Jesus but I do see the point in my dads church on some things. They believe in the chosen generation that everyone is predestined to go to heaven or hell, there's no such thing as earning your way to heaven by accepting Jesus.

But again back to being resaved and alter calls that have salvation calls to re accept Jesus as Lord over and over.
The reason why my Mom while in Alcoholics Anonymous did not accept invitations to go to church was because of this.

She said they want to take me and get me resaved again, God saved me at 8 why are Celebrate Recovery Christians trying to get me resaved? Apparently God was stupid and doesn't know what he was doing.

I was saved responded to a million alter calls and baptized in 3 churches , the Southern Baptists at 8, the Seventh Day Adventist church at 22 and the Pentecostals baptiized in Jesus name at age 24 when I started speaking in tongues right after and the pastor put the micriophone to my mouth so everyone could hear me.

My Dads church says the mainstream church holds on to people responding to emotional alter calls over and over because they are trying to work to earn their salvation, I agree with that.

That's working, the fact that they have to do it over and over, well I've sinned again, i must lave lost my free ticket out of hell so lets go to church and respond to the alter cal to get my free ticket out of hell again.

This is the attitude. This is one reason why i dont go to church service with folks from AA who ask me either, they want to take me get me re saved and get me to be a member of the church, it has nothing to do with the bible.

Where in the bible does it say we can lose our salvation? I don't understand the ministry of Jesus not sure I believe int he actual Jesus ,but I believe God saved me and I don't worry about it.

Mat 24:13 " He that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved".

1 Cor 9:27 (quote from the Apostle Paul)
" I pummel my body and lead it as a slave, so that after I have preached to others, i myself should not become disqualified somehow".

I prefer to phrase it as 'perseverance of the saints'
Those God choses will persevere and bear fruit.

I believe the scriptures indicate that a saved, born again individual cannot lose their salvation, nor do they need to be saved over and over again. Confess sins and receive cleansing, as needed, but not losing and regaining salvation. According to the Bible when someone truly repents and trusts Jesus Christ as their Savior for forgiveness and eternal life they become a new creation in Christ. This is a work of God and one does not go back and forth between being a new creation and an old creation. In 1 John it states that Christians will sin and anyone who denies that they do is a liar, yet we have a Savior who forgives and cleanses from all unrighteousness when we confess. If a Christian lives in sin fellowship with God is broken until we repent and confess, but our saved position is secure in Christ by His power and He will do whatever it takes to get us to the point of repentance and restored relationship.

@Riders , I looked at Biblehub for 1 Corinthians 9:27. Most versions render it either as disqualified, or rejected. One says disapproved.
Just what do you think that means? Don't spin it.

And what if one doesn't "endure to the end"? Halfway ain't good enough.

Jesus says at Revelation 2:10, "Be faithful until death, and I'll give you life." Again, what if one gives in to fear -- or inclinations, or whatever -- and isn't "faithful until death"? Please don't mislead yourself. Our hearts are treacherous. - Jeremiah 17:9

@Riders , don't get me wrong....we all make mistakes, ie., give in, at times. Even King David did. But he was still considered Faithful. Why? He always was repentant. He admitted his mistakes. His attitude was good....he tried not to repeat them.

It is all about humility, sincerity and attitude.

    Take care.

If you take some faulty religious scheme or a vague interest in the Bible, selecting what you believe to be the truth because of tradition of personal choice you miss the point. The Bible is full of examples of people who stumble and fall. Of warnings to those who are "saved" from jeopardizing their position of God's favor, and of Jesus saying there will be many who call out "Lord" to him and yet he never knew them.

If I had to give a quick overall answer to the question of what you must do to be saved there would be no one answer. There is nothing that you can do to be saved. One could do and say all of the right things and still not have earned the privilege of being saved. It is given as an undeserved kindness.

What does it even mean to be saved? It simply means to be delivered from danger or destruction.

Some wrongly think that the Bible teaches that those who are saved go to heaven and those who are not go to hell. The Bible doesn't teach this, it teaches the possibility of being saved from the destruction of a world of ungodliness, to be resurrected to eternal life for a few in heaven, and of many to paradise on earth.

Ezekiel 18: 21; "But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die."

Ezekiel 18: 24; But when the righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, according to all the transgressions which the transgressor has wrought, none of his righteousness which he has wrought shall be at all remembered: in his trespass wherein he has trespassed, and in his sins wherein he has sinned, in them shall he die.

It makes sense, however is somewhat beyond a practical method for discernment. It's a belief that is conceptual to itself, if that is clear enough.

So what's your belief? Do you believe that once a person in saved, they can commit any crime whatsoever against their fellow man, free of any divine penalty?

Once saved always saved is an unbiblical and rather inane idea. It is refuted by those that follow it and claim to have been saved. I have noticed that none I have ever seen value the Ninth Commandment at all. They win regularly, but never apologize since they arrogantly believe that they have not sinned.

I agree with you that once saved forever saved. God will never abandon a person as long as one continues in surrender mode. This comes from paying devotional reverences and developing insight meditation on ones circumstances with a focus on the divine. You can say that Jesus is divine and so take the steps to withstand all evil that brings one suffering. That is how I see it.

The Parable of the Seed & Sower, plus Paul's statement of trying to bring those that have fallen away back into the fold.

Faith is not a "either you have it or you don't" thingy, which is where Jesus was coming from, imo, on his insistence that we can only come into the Kingdom through the "narrow gate", and this is reinforced in Jesus' "Parable of the Sheep & Goats".

Salvation means that your sins are forgiven and you are saved from the judgment that would come because of sin.

These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
    Mat. 25:46

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
    Romans 6:23

Now, after your sins are forgiven, they will be forgiven eternally. But if you return to new sin, then the old forgiveness is not useful anymore, because you have new sin. That is why Jesus taught people should repent and reject sin, not continue in sin.

"Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more."

    John 8:11

When sins are forgiven, there should happen change in persons heart and he should be born anew righteous, else the forgiveness is not useful.

Jesus answered him, "Most assuredly, I tell you, unless one is born anew, he can't see the Kingdom of God." Nicodemus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb, and be born?" Jesus answered, "Most assuredly I tell you, unless one is born of water and spirit, he can't enter into the Kingdom of God! That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Don't marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born anew.'

    John 3:3-7

…Whoever is born of God doesn't commit sin, because his seed remains in him; and he can't sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of the devil. Whoever doesn't do righteousness is not of God, neither is he who doesn't love his brother.

    1 John 3:7-10

If you dont believe once saved always saved, its a sense that god is not capable of saving someone, God is not stupid. To me the silly alter calls asking people to get saved and re saved over and over is a fear tactic. Hey alter calls are not even biblical. Its a fear tactic used by preachers to keep people close tot he church.

Then they always ask are you sure your really saved making people question weather or not they are really saved, to me its abusive, its an abuse of religion, and holding people to fear instead of God.

So Ia m also criticizing the later call methods used in churches. The fact that they have to put people through the salvation process again, if its a new person, someone like my Mom who claimed to be saved at 8, people at AA wanted to get her and me into church so they can go get saved again.

There's no point in that, that's why my Mom never accepted anyone's invitation to church at AA. Its like telling God he didn't know what he was doing. For me it would only serve to scare me to death, there's no way.

I visited our old Baptist church from my childhood 5 years ago and they said for anyone who was transferring to church they wanted a referral name and address from their former church and if someone hasnt been in church for awhile they have to go through the salvational process again.

My Grandmother Mommie Ingram said their Baptist int he early 1900s and the 1920s did not have alter calls to accept Jesus as Lord. that came about in the 60s. ]

When someone started going to church it was because they believe in the Christian God, the alter call was to repent of their sins and get baptized and become a member. The accepting Jesus as Lord bit didn't come around till the 1960s.

Dissqualified or dissaproved seem like acceptable renderings.
It means what it says, if we are not faifthful until death then we will not be saved. Believing in anything else is just presumptuousness.

The church uses that belief into scaring people into church.
