You are going to see so much more of this sort of thing as the economy goes further South.

Well I've been saying we are overly focused on Covid. There are other important parts of life to balance our actions with.

If we could keep everybody sustained with government deficit spending indefinitely then there wouldn't be any such thing as poverty but it isn't that easy.

I can't write my thoughts about this subhuman injustice - they're too violent.

Especially not easy given the horror show that is the degenerate and dark United States.

An eviction moratorium is not feasible in the long run. The government needs to enact a rental assistance program.
At least for folks directly affected by Covid-19 like this person. Perhaps even broader but at least this.

Well I think the United States is a good place myself, but it is impossible for any country to print checks indefinitely with deficit spending to alleviate financial hardship. If it were that easy every country could eradicate financial hardship by just doing more deficit spending.

Absolutely. We should also focus on the disgusting greed, pathological indifference, and criminal incompetence that characterizes the Administration's response to the pandemic.

I have one tenant who is about 5000 behind on his rent, has been for a long time, but I have not been considering evicting him, even before the governor order prohibiting evictions came down. However, I own all my homes outright so I can afford to wait for the rent, even though I realize that I am taking a chance I might never get it as has happened with one tenant who cut out on me promising to pay back rent and then disappearing.

In over 10 years of being a landlord, at least half of my tenants have gotten behind on rent or did not pay it at all, but I have only evicted one tenant, and that is because she told me she was not going to pay the rent and she was also showing no indications of moving out, and I had another tenant who had been waiting for six weeks to move in.

In my experience, tenants who get far behind in rent
will never catch up. It's important to start action before
    they get several months behind.
Anyone who thinks that's harsh is welcome to lend them
    the rent money.

As a general rule that is a good idea, but there are always exceptions. Several years ago, the tenant who is now behind on rent (again) owed me 11,000, but he paid most of it in two installments of 5000 within two months. That is one reason why I am prone to trust him. The other reason is because he is a Bible believer, even though he believes some rather strange things.

If I pressured him some, he would probably show up with some money, but I am not up to pressuring him right now, since I don't need the money, although I hope to get it eventually.

Also, he has been renting that house for over seven years and I have no interest in getting another tenant right now, although I have had the previous tenant wanting to re-rent that house off and on since the present tenant moved in.

This is an outrage. I wish that the reporters in this video had named the judge. They should call out the judge and put him/her under the spotlight for this scummy behavior. Same for the lawyers and whichever business entity initiated these proceedings in the first place. Call them out. Tell us their names. Post it all over the internet, along with pictures with the caption: "This is what scum looks like."

In these troubled times, I'd expect tenants in
arrears to be even less capable than before.

A lot of us have been saying this for months now that we need to reopen so people will have a means to make a living. Either that or have the govt provide those means until this blows over.

My state has largely reopened. It blows my mind that some states are still on lockdown. I still think that the economic devastation caused by these shutdowns has not yet been fully realized--not even close. We're headed for another Great Depression, and one that will likely take a decade to recover from and will result in more total deaths around the world than COVID. But most people aren't smart enough to think long term.

Then you were focusing on the wrong aspect and missing the root of tne problem. The lockdowns could have safely ended months ago if not for the Trump administration's inept response.

So why is every other country still in precarious and unpredictable waters too?
