Although, in fairness, the article sounds a little contrived and I think this is more to do with the backlash against Gay Marriage than it does Atheists.

First they considered the possibility of cancelling state marriage altogether. Whatever happened to that proposal?

My first guess is going to be the fact that they would still have to honor the state marriages of other states.
An interesting conundrum if they have nothing for which to compare.

Having lived and worked in oklahoma; Oklahoma City, Tulsa and lawton, I can tell you they truly are this stupid.

Think about it logically though. Do atheists really need to get married? Can't they just have immoral relations with each other. Those immoral atheists. How dear they be so immorally immoral. Marriage is sacred and atheists are immoral. They have no morals. They should be banned from marriage. And from eating crackers w/wine. And from pretending to be moral. That's what they are. Immoral, moral-pretending devils. They're the devils. They should move to NJ. All of them. And live in ghettos on big swathes of ice. With goals and hockey sticks.

The first colonizers that came here were either too religious for society back home or too secular. I think that our legacy has turned out to be in part a great debate between these two sides.

If you look closely all atheists have two tiny little horns growing out the top of their heads.
