The 2021 Census was completed by over 90% of the population and thus returned useful data.

    Religion was interesting.

I see this is a trend that was foretold, but there will come a time when people realise that Faith is the only way to help humanity.

    What are your thoughts?

    Regards Tony

Many will fall off in these times, but there will be those who will be in doubt, and come back to faith too.

Not everyone will want to be saved, those are not able to find the way back i think.

Others will be strong and stay within a spiritual/religious faith.

Only time will tell what will happen.

I don't see religious faith as the only way to help, I don't even see at as a way to help.

Praying and saying im thinking of you is of no benefit to the starving. What helps is action.

If course faith may/does help the individual with faith, giving them a false sense of having done something to help.

It is absolutely a way to help. But it's only one facet of a multi-sided dice of options one has to help

Good to see that more people are seeing sense.

On what basis do you support your statement "....there will come a time when people realise that Faith is the only way to help humanity"
I think that too often it is a hinderance and often help comes with strings attached.

Personally I see it as an encouraging trend to see that many people are casting off demonstrably false dogmas that bind them.

    In my opinion.

Prayer is something that often inspires people to take action.

When I pray before exercise, I do not expect my God(s) to do the lifting and the running for me. I do not expect the strength, the speed, and the stamina to just magickly appear out of nowhere with no effort on my part. I invoke my God(s), and it helps me focus on the objective, inspires me to push harder when I am about to give up, and reminds me why I train the way I do.

If I am properly informed, Christian religion decreases sometimes and increases other times. Some scholars correlate this with poverty and wealth, but I correlate it with corruption. People don't like corruption, and it makes them stop trusting. After a bout of very serious corruption there is a very serious drop in attendance.

There are many religious based charities that do help, some attach string and hooks, others genuinely do help without requiring commitment to their cause.

And I think it helps the faithful feel good about themselves.

Faith is nice for those who need it, but actions are what matters and helps. People help, with or without a faith, and sometimes faith in certain deities hinders helping. Faith should be about making someone a better person, but it often doesn't. Sometimes it makes people worse.

I agree. How long does the person even think of the said starving people? Thirty seconds, and then back to the YouTube app? Perhaps.

In my case, I don’t spend time supplicating any deity for people whom I could actually help. Useful actions, I believe, are more beneficial than prayers.

I'm not even thinking in the realm of charity although that's there too. I'm thinking more along the lines of pastoral counseling. Helping others emotionally and spiritually deal with things.

I'm one of the almost 10 million non religionists to complete that census.

I don't know what it means but I hope it means people are getting smarter and realise we would be better off without religion.

I was rather let down by that sort of thing, when i needed it it wasn't there. I think its probably flavoured the way i think about the church.

It is good news. If you want to claim that faith will be the answer some day I have only one question: Why isn't there any rational evidence for it?

I hate to say it: You're wrong, Tony.

We humans need to come together in global harmony. Since religion's only undeniable characteristic is its tendency to divide people into thousands of sects, it's not destined to bring us together. It's an obstacle to be overcome.

I understand that completely. Because I come from a similar situation. It wasn't available when and how I needed it.

Which is why a big Spiritual goal.of mine is to become an ordained pagan priest, so that I can be what I needed. That way if others need it, I can be there for them.

I hate to say it; but you're wrong, Joe.

We can divide ourselves thousands of ways without the need of religion to do so. Religion at it's core is attempting to explain and answer many of the same metaphysical questions many of us ask; and in doing so have a lot more in common then most of them realize. Therefore pluralistic cooperation is not only possible, but essential going forward.

We humans are born with a conscience, moral intuition, that is universal. Harvard's Moral Sense Test, online now for 19 years, is one attempt to show its existence. If a Creator exists, this is the only moral guide we need.

The Global Citizenship movement is gaining momentum. Its goal is global harmony whether one believes in a Creator or not. But most religions structure their beliefs so rigidly that there would be conflict with such a movement. Who needs that?
