Nigerian singer sentenced to death for blasphemy in Kano state

'A musician in Nigeria's northern state of Kano has been sentenced to death by hanging for blaspheming against the Prophet Muhammad.

An upper Sharia court in the Hausawa Filin Hockey area of the state said Yahaya Sharif-Aminu, 22, was guilty of committing blasphemy for a song he circulated via WhatsApp in March.

That's religion for you. It cannot stand a challenge, as its theology is based only on folklore and tradition. Since it cannot counter a challenge with facts, any threat must be eliminated by any means necessary.

All such does is to reflect back on their beliefs, and the intolerance associated with such. Much like terrorism, they often don't see this though. Might explain why so many are inclined to move to countries where such things would not happen.
