Peace and mercy of Allah be on you.
Translation (ch3:v93) “Never shall you attain to righteousness unless you spend out of that which you love; and whatever you spend, Allah surely knows it well.”
In this verse, Allah the Exalted has mentioned that subject, which is always understood well, only by those believers who offer sacrifices in the way of Allah the Exalted. The companions of Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) manifested it most as they sacrificed their wealth, life and time for Deen.
These were the people who understood the reality of ‘al-birr’ (righteousness) i.e. they understood such level of virtue, and made effort to achieve it, which was the highest level of virtues, Taqwa, morals, financial sacrifice, gain of pleasure of Allah the Exalted.
According to tradition, when this verse was revealed, a Sahabi, Hazrat Abu Talha (r.a.) requested Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) I have a garden (Bir Ha, near Masjid e nabwi) and it is the most beloved to me among my properties, today I offer it for way of Allah.
Such were levels of Sahabah.
Today, by the favor of Allah the Exalted, the greatest understanding with practice, of all kinds of sacrifices is possessed by the believers of ardent devotee of Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) - the Ahmadis. In this world, where many people are participating in race to collect wealth, great majority of Ahmadis are such that when their attention is drawn to offer financial sacrifice, they offer it from their earnings. It is result of continuous training by Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace). At various occasions, in different ways, he advised us about sacrifices. At an occasion, he (a.s.) said about the financial sacrifice: In the world, human loves wealth very much. That is why, it is written in the knowledge of interpretation of dreams that if a person sees (in dream), he has taken liver out and gave to someone, by it wealth is meant. For this very reason, to get real Eman (belief) and righteousness, (Allah) said, ‘lan tanalul birra hatta tunfequ mimma tohibboon’ that you will never get real virtue until you spend the most beloved thing. Since a great part of sympathy and conduct with creature of Allah demands spending of wealth. And sympathy for children of sort (people) and creature of Allah is such a thing which is the second part of Eman, without it Eman does not become perfect and firm. Until human does do sacrifice, how can he impart benefit to other. Sacrifice is essential thing to give benefit and sympathy to other, and in this verse ‘lantanalul birra hatta tunfequ mimma tohibboon’ , teaching and guidance to of this very sacrifice is given. So spending of wealth in the way of Allah the Exalted is standard and criterion of blessedness and righteousness of human. In the life of Abu Bakr (r.a.), the standard and criterion of devotion for Allah was such that Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, mentioned a need (for Deen) and he humbly came with all things of house.
It is the highest standard which was created by Hazrat Abu Bakr (r.a.), Hazrat Umer (r.a.) brought half of things of his house and likewise other Companions too continued to offer sacrifices according to their capacities.
It is that very level, which Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) wants us to be at, by giving above examples.
There are many Ahmadis who make effort to achieve high levels of sacrifices. They read in Quran and Hadith and likewise in sayings of Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) that Allah blesses lives and wealth when person sacrifice most beloved thing in the way of Allah the Exalted, He has said He grants with increment up to 700 times or more. Ahmadis believe that they shall be blessed.
When Ahmadis spend according to the saying of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) that who gave one date-palm from pure earning in the way of Allah the Exalted , He will accept it with Right Hand and will continue to increase it till it will become like mountain. As one from you raise his little calf and makes it big animal..
(this vital thing should be remembered Allah the Exalted does not accept from earning made by deceit, He accepts from pure earnings)
We hear and read sayings of Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) in this era, these are not old tales and stories. Today too, sacrifice-doers experience personal incidents. This thing increase their resources and Eman . In this regard, some events are being mentioned.
In Cameron, Africa, a jobless Ahmadi was having very difficult financial situation and was unable to support family. After a Friday Salaat, when secretary announced Tehrik e Jadid. Ahmadi offered all what he had i.e. 10,000 CFA...After few days, he came to center and said God the Exalted has accepted his all Chanda (alms). Within a weak, God the Exalted provided him a job with 100,000 CFA monthly salary. He said it was special favor of Allah so he offered first month’s salary as Chanda to Jama'at.
A new Bai'at doer in Congo Brazzaville: His financial condition was weak. He was advised to come to offer at least one Friday salaat in Ahmadiyya mosque. When he became regular, he was told about importance of financial sacrifice and that he should offer at least something from whatever God gives him, He has promised He pays back more, so his weak financial situation will change too...Person was given fare to return home...Person came on next Friday, he was happy, he told when he heard about chanda last Friday, he offered 100 CFA for chanda before leaving mosque.. As he reached home, his neighbor came to get back his wood-fuel stored in his courtard, neighbour gave him 4000 CFA....So Allah blessed him 40 times more.
In Tanzania, a new Bai'at-doer, a construction labourer was out of work for 5 months, family was facing difficulties. Muallam motivated him for Chanda. It made person more anxious as he had money barely for children for that day. When muallam sahib said, Allah the Exalted blesses the sacrifice, person offered his money for Chanda. He thought about children’s food for day...While thinking, he received a message, work is in progress at some place, go and make measurements. Some money was also given as advance. Person was surprised at this that he was workless for 5 months, as he offered in the path of Allah, doors of blessings opened, he resolved to pay for Chanda always.
In Mali, a person did Bai'at three or four years ago, he offered 500 franc cf Chanda for Tehrik e Jadid from his minimal income. He said, his business was not good before joining Jama'at and offering Chanda, but by the blessing of Chanda, Allah the Exalted has blessed business unusually. Now he is Musi (joined system of wassiyyat) and offers 35000 CFA Chanda monthly. His non Ahmadi friends think perhaps Jama'at is helping for progress of his business.
France: A new Bai'at-doer learned about system of Chanda in Jama'at, but his financial situation was very weak. Some Ahmadi friends told him there is great blessing in Chanda. He had 60 euros, he presented these as Chanda in the way of Allah....Few days later, his bank statement came, it showed 600 euros came from somewhere.... It was found government had to pay him that money but it was not in their record earlier..... Like this, Allah the Exalted gave him back by many times which he had not expected.
In Tanzania, an Ahmadi who is Musi too, he fulfilled his promise of chanda of 50,000 shilling. Last month he saw in dream, Hazrat Khalifatul Messiah (a .t.) went to his house and asked, does he do work of digging gold from earth. He said yes Huzur, but work is not well. Huzur saw him and simultaneously a voice came from somewhere, ‘increase Chanda of Tehrik e Jadid’...Person also works as expert herbal doctor. After dream Allah the Exalted put unusual blessing in his hand and patients began to come to him from far places. His income increased usually. After dream, he has offered more than 4,27,000 shillings for Tehrik e Jadid and is at top in his religion.
From Bangalore, India: A sincere young man was jobless, he was unable to pay installment of house..... He asked the visiting inspector if he was going to say something.... Inspector sahib said yes, he was going to motivate him for 100,000 rupees Chanda Tehrik e Jadid but when secretary sahib told me your condition, I did not speak....whatever you like according to your condition, make a promise...Young man asked him to write 100,000 as promise trusting Allah the Exalted.... By the favour of Allah the Exalted he got a very good employment, and he fulfilled his promise of previous and current year.
Mayotte island: It is poor country, people make living by growing vegetables etc in home. An Ahmadi works in motorcycle shop. He gives Chanda more than all. He reports, strange thing happens, as much he give Chanda, he receives double amount at the end of month. One day his wife said why do he pay so much Chanda. He said Allah the Exalted pays him back twice. Then he offered a certain amount for Chanda before his wife and told her she would see Allah will make it return....So at the end of month, the owner of shop gave bonus to employees, the money received by person was more than Chanda. ....By the grace of Allah the Exalted, he is progressing in financial sacrifice day by day.
Canada: Secretary Tehrik e Jadid of ladies (lajna) mentioned when a sister was told that Hazrat Musleh Mo'ud (r.a.), in the beginning, had motivated members to offer full or half salary for Chanda. ... She was working part time, but very much desired to have full time job so that she could offer full salary...She gained a full time job with 5000 dollars salary which she presented for Tehrik e Jadid.
There are many examples like these.
