No joke, one of the early variants of Captain Marvel is actually a black woman called Monica Rambeau.
Monica Rambeau
Which is a character that has a very varied history. Even spanning across rival comics (DCs Shazam.)
I don’t know if White Panther would be accepted, given his explicit history. Superman is not explicitly white in the same manner (he wasn’t born in a European country. He’s a space alien.)
And Wonder Woman has so many variants I’m honestly shocked they haven’t gone a trans route. Though for some reason I always assumed she was gay. Or at least bisexual, given the media coverage of her. I mean she lives in a matriarchal society filled with strong buff women. Just saying
White Panther is from Wakansas, an apparently 3rd world
country inhabited by hillbillies, but is actually an advanced
society concealed by an SEP field.

Ehh. I dunno. Wakanda is its own seperate thing based on a real (so I’ve heard) pre colonial story.
White Panther literally sounds like a lame member name the actual KKK would actually have.
So no. It’s dumb af.
Sorry this doesn’t always go the other way. Deal with it

In the superhero world, anything is possible.
Even sacred black characters can be re-imagined as white.

Not saying they can’t be. But it’s different if something starts as a minority group. It’s like Othello from Shakespeare. Sure, you could make the character white. Nobody would stop you. But it’s a bit weird all the same. It just feels like white washing, which is eww-y

One person's cultural appropriation is another's creativity.
But you think there'll be an outcry against White Panther,
just wait til Wonder Man arrives. Ain't nuthin sacred.

Wonder Man already exists. He’s called Superman. Wonder Woman is already cultural appropriation. She lives among the Amazons and is nothing more than a Greek myth retelling.
Fun fact she was created by a staunch feminist who believed women would be more benign rulers than men. He was also in a polyamorous relationship. Superhero’s are fun.

Wonder Man already exists.
Not my version.
He's a trans man...a former Amazon.
His back story is a long & painful one.
And there's much drama with the other supes.

White Panther does indeed result from KKK research
into creating a super soldier for God...the white God.
Imagine the possible story lines.
He could start out as the heel, but meet Daryl Davis,
transmogrify, & become the baby face.
(Wrestling lingo there.)

You could be onto something here.

I do not care for sad, gritty Superman. It's like trying to make an angsty Spiderman. Just doesn't work for me.

So there was an announcement that they’re going to do a reboot of Supes with JJ Abrams directing. Only it will feature the multiverse Superman, Calvin Ellis rather than Clark Kent. I think Micheal B Jordan has supposedly got the role.
For reference
Calvin Ellis
And
J.J. Abrams' Superman Reboot Reportedly Won't Feature Clark Kent
What do you think? I’m kind of excited for some “new blood” as it were. Explore different angles. Different ideas.
I’m a DC fan at heart so I kind of hope this will reinvigorate the lagging (imo) DCEU.
Who’s your favourite version of the Blue Boy Scout?
Who is your dream casting?
Which is your preferred movie/iteration of the character?
I kind of like when they do an elsewhere version of him being all “evil.” Makes things a bit more interesting.
Bonus question, anyone actually going to watch the infamous Snyder Cut of Justice League or has seen it if it’s already out?
I mean it’s supposedly like 3 or 4 hours, right?
I’m curious just because of all the hype. But I dunno
????
