Well I guess there has been at least a 100% increase in people who have had some education in science and discoveries since 2001... (almost 20 years).. maybe internet and better science education is slowly prevailing.

It is a mistake to think that all of the deniers of reality are YEC's. There are also OEC's that would fit into the creationist camp. But it is a bit disheartening to see that 40% of Americans belief a myth refuted over one hundred years ago.

People want their science without progressive political bull****... It's only natural. It has nothing to do with religions either -- religious people do science too.

The science deniers in this country love to drape themselves in patriotic clothing and symbols. They really believe America is on the way to greatness.

The problem is that 1.4 billion Chinese know that the way of the future is science education, not religious fantasy.

Environmental science, psychology, and sociology are completely poisoned with political bull**** ATM. (Mind you, I'm not a Republican or Democrat -- I'm a Libertarian...) It's also corrupting the tech industry as a whole, so there is that too.

I say corrupting when I mean a value system or belief system is more important than the science fact in these areas. So take any information on those areas from reputed experts with a cup of salt.

The sad thing is it all comes across that people are learning more on the internet than they are actually in grade school.

You said that correct. I suppose the internet offers to those who want to learn more about a subject freely and easily. A natural problem with public education is the desire of students to want to learn instead of just making the grade. That was my problem as a youth... no open mind.. just pass biology, who really needs learn genetics and evolution when you dont "believe" it.

If there's a conflict between well-established science and what a denomination teaches, then at least one of them must be wrong because the truth cannot be relative. I left a church decades ago because they just couldn't quite get around to accepting overwhelming scientific evidence.
