Thanks! I'm looking forward to it. Navaratri holds a special place in my heart; it was the first Hindu festival I ever celebrated, and it was during Navaratri my husband gained his initial interest in Hinduism(he was fairly indifferent to it before).

Though my house is a wreck right now because of all the home construction, we've made some decor to hang, and we're getting the altars ready. We fast during this time, and we're preparing for that as well.

For my family (and for Prime Minister of India and the various Chief ministers), it starts tomorrow (checked with my wife just now). Narendra Modi will subsist on fruits, milk and juices. Not sure about the kind of fast that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, will keep. He is the Chief of the Natha Shaiva Sect in Northern India (Gorakhpur). So he will go by the traditions of his sect. Traditional community worship organized during this time (Puja Pandals like those in honor of Lord Ganesha) will be held under strict regulations because of Covid (the visitors must have been vaxxed, must wear masks and keep distance).

My wife will go to the market today to buy presents for the nine 'kanyas', flowers and garlands, and sweets. All non-veg. in the fridge is to be finished today and then no more for the eight days. The kitchen, fridges have to be cleaned thoroughly. No onion or sour things, no pickles, and no garlic which otherwise also we do not use in our cooking.
Jai Mata Ri or Ambe Mat Ri Jai (Glory to the Mother, that is how we say it in Rajasthan and Gujrat).

Edited: My wife will not fast (don't know why), but son and daughter-in-law will fast tomorrow and on the seventh day, so also will my daughter. Son-in-law will observe fast for all days. Don't know about the elder grandson, he may get on the wagon. Fast by younger one will be discouraged. What kind of fast will you keep? My request will be not to make it too tough for yourself. I do not subscribe to extremes. Best wishes.

Husband is going this route with his fasting(though we eat vegetarian all the time, with the exception of eggs). I'm going to do with a bit less this time around.

Husband is going for what we've done in years past; no to most grains(we've got buckwheat and millet available), yes to most fruits and vegetables, no to most spices.

I'm going to go the first 3 with liquid(I'm going to make a few smoothies with milk and fruit, to assure I'm not going to keel over), the second three with raw foods, and the third set of three I'll join my husband with what he's eating. I'm making it a bit more difficult this time, hopefully to help combat my problem with food. (I sometimes struggle with binge eating.) None of the kids will fast.

Jaya Jagannatha!
Happy Navaratri to all who celebrate. Personally, I'm having some issues (which may be over by Jan '22) and in order to win in that, I am celebrating every festival with proper observances, and requesting my victory. I might try to recite Durga Saptashati (Devi Mahatmyam) this time for Navaratri.
