Ah, yes, similar situation.

I was born and raised roughly 30 miles from Manchester qnd Liverpool. I find the Manchester account to be common and uncouth and the Liverpool accent is simply not understandable.

Very true. I heard this second or third hand. The only place in the UK where they speak proper kings English (if such a monstrosity exists) is a small town on the west cost of Scotland. I think it was Largs, when I went there i couldn't understand a word spoken.
We speak weird to keep the foreigners out (ie anyone from more than 10 miles away).

I would just create a new journal thread since none of these people are respecting the space you set aside to compose your thoughts.


There is good stuff on this thread, advice, dialect and tradition from around the English speaking world and Staffordshire
