Muslims: why do you think Sunnah can prohibit more than the Quran?

If the Quran calls it a sin to prohibit something God has not forbitten (Quran is the only God's word and complete) and say it is what God wants, why do so many Muslims believe this can overruled by the Sunnah and the Hadith?

Perhaps they have exceeded their authority? Tribalism causes lots of problems too.

It would be helpful to have examples. Thank you.

  • The way women are supposed to dress. Actually all restrictions for women
  • rules for praying

Thank you. Please reference the Qur'anic verses you have in mind; and the ʼaḥādīth that - in your opinion - abrogate them. We will then have something to discuss.
