Is it just me, or can you count to eight (in time) and match almost any musical song Rhythm and it lines up the peaks and drops on a 1 count?

8 seems to be the basis for most music, western music, at least.

1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &, drums and bass, then rhythm guitar(s).
D u D u D u D u or
D d D d D d D D

Most songs are in 4/4 time signatures (Classical, rock/pop, rap and hip-hop), 2/4, 3/4 (waltzes, polkas, some rock, ballads, e.g. The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, House of the Rising Sun), 6/8 and some really horrific more obscure ones.
