I personally would not call it tortured but maybe tormented is something i could call it.
Because in this human physical realm we do feel pain, agony, greed anger and so on that lead to suffering for ourselves.

our main spirit is always looking for us to realize that the pain or suffering is due to our own attachments to it. so if we in human form would be able to let go of the attachments we hold, we would not suffer even when we still are in human life.

The body is a body :) a vessel for us to be trapped in as long we are in the human realm (in my understanding)

The wicked live their lives in hell on earth. The "many" (Matthew 7:13-15) are deceived and are on their path to destruction. They follow the herd of lemmings jumping off the cliff, while clinging to their own version of morality. Their minds are corrupted with their twisted version of reality, and subsequently their flesh is corrupted, and they finally come to their end. Their "torture" is predicated on their holding on to their own deceptions (Isaiah 28:14-29).

The conscious mind/self is an illusion.
    Reality tends to disrupt illusions.

Perhaps the illusion of duality is the catalyst for our torture.

Objective thought may be so rare, that it could be thought of as an illusion, but conscious subjective minds seems to be quite real, and leading the parade.

You only get tortured if you have bad karma for being violent, and to be divine you must save yourself.

Karma is not limited to "violent" behavior". Karma follows the norm of as you do to others, so shall it be done to you, or in the form of do unto others as you would have them do for you. As for being "saved", everyman will die for their own iniquity" (Jeremiah 31:30), and "iniquity"/sin/lawlessness is not limited to "violence".

(Physical) body is a natural vehicle. For experience and learning. Nothing bad in itself.

Difference between current state and ideal/potential doesn't mean it's hell here.
