I am a person with allergies. I take various antihistamines all of the time.

I wish I only had migraines. Migraine people are so lucky they aren't allergic.

I have no personal experience of either, but my friend suffers from migraines occasionally and from what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

If I ever have another dental abscess though, I’d probably swap it for pretty much any physical pain in the world, because I can’t imagine there is anything worse. On a pain scale of 1-10, that’s an 11.

My wife has severe migraines that send her to the ER a couple of times a year. I have allergies and asthma, but they are under control from medications. When I was young, I went to the ER for asthma a couple of times every spring and at least once in the fall.

There is NO WAY I would trade my allergies for her migraines. i can't imagine having both.

I feel for you but as one who has occasional migraine i feel you are talking out of your butt.

Hubby has a pollen allergy and sure it can make him feel iffy in spring, antihistamines help though.

There is often no relief from migraine that can completely dibiliate a person with agonising pain, sometimes for days at a time.

My sympathies for your allergic sufferings and my lesser sympathies for your wife's trifling migraines.

Migraine suffers claim its so terrible, but allergies are longer lasting, more dangerous and require a hearty spirit to survive. Did anyone ever die of a migraine? I doubt it. But people die of allergies every day! Now then tell your wife she is so much better off than you are. Finally an argument you can win! Go ahead and tell her the truth. You're welcome.

That's cute, since butts can't have migraines butt can have allergies.

Oh, what a suffering man. Make sure you love him and help him through his ordeal.

Very often allergy sufferers become resistant to medicines. They live in torment for years on end.

    You have an allergic butt?...

All men suffer man flu or equivalent. Its a real pain in the butt,

Then a runny nose or butt must really cause excruciating pain...

    You could get both!
My allergies are seasonal, and my migraines dependent on the weather, so my body usually alternates between migraine season and allergy season, although usually neither get bad enough to warrant medication.

Allergies here. No migraines. I used to be a light smoker and when I quit I it seemed that the tobacco was partially contributing to keeping my lungs clear. And it seems that it can have positive short term effects:

“Divine Stramonium”: The Rise and Fall of Smoking for Asthma

Long term I knew that it was messing my lungs up. Anyway since I was no longer smoking my asthma got worse and worse until I was in the hospital for three days. That gave my body time enough to "reset" and I have not smoked since.

Yeah. When I was smoking I was blissfully untouched by allergies, but the cost was high. I was smoking 2 packs of reds per day for 2 years, my lungs were turning to bacon. How terrible that the treatment for allergies was almost as bad as the disease.

Migraine sufferers cannot say the same as they faint on their couches and get special breaks from work. I try not to be jealous, don't you?

Maybe. It seems like it sometimes, and jalapenos may be the trigger.

Is that the true Britannica fact or some Wikipedia spin?

Its the kind of pain that people don't want to tell others about it. That's how you know its real.

Far be it from me to suggest that your migraines are only in your head. For all I know they are a real ailment.

I just deleted a post that I had not thought through. Ignore whatever it was.

Stay clear of jalapenos and you runny butt allergy will be a thing of the past

Tis a true real life fact derived from experience.

    Yet you are telling?

Honestly i would swap hubbies pollen problems for my migraine any time. Although i am pretty sure allergies can be a pain in the butt and can last longer than migraine, i don't think the pain factor can compare

I've had allergies and one true migraine in my life (almost 30 years ago). That migraine headache lasted for about a half hour, and I still remember it as one of the worst headaches (or any kind of pain) I ever had.

I've also had dental abscesses (as another poster mentioned), and that's pretty bad - but not as bad as that migraine was. That was the worst - and the weird thing was, there was no apparent reason or cause - and it's never happened since.

I also haven't had an allergic butt, nor migraines of the butt, but I have had hemorrhoids, which are a pain in the butt - but not too bad.

Dukkha is the truth of suffering that everyone hurts but also that pain is due to attachment and not real. While this concept begins with Buddhism it is also a verifiable psychological truth. Why only focus upon the pain in one's head? That sounds like an unhealthy attachment.

You were attached to your tooth, but giving up your tooth freed you from the associated pain.

Getting rid of the hemorrhoids frees us from the Dukkha.

Allergies last longer, but are far less severe on the pain scale. Yes, an acute attack can be lethal, but the pain level is minor.

People don't die directly from migraines, but don't underestimate their pain level. my wife has given birth twice and says that she would far rather go through that than have one of her bad migraines (in regard to pain).

if you want to tell my wife her suffering is a minor thing, go ahead. But you take your life in your hands if you do. I'm *certainly* not going there. I have seen her suffer way too much to minimize her pain.
