Michigan lawmakers who met with Trump say they see nothing to change election outcome - CNNPolitics

After Trump invited them to the White House, a move clearly designed to intimidate them, the Republican legislators came out with this statement:

"We have not yet been made aware of any information that would change the outcome of the election in Michigan and as legislative leaders, we will follow the law and follow the normal process regarding Michigan's electors, just as we have said throughout this election,"

"Michigan's certification process should be a deliberate process free from threats and intimidation. Allegations of fraudulent behavior should be taken seriously, thoroughly investigated, and if proven, prosecuted to the full extent of the law. And the candidates who win the most votes win elections and Michigan's electoral votes. These are simple truths that should provide confidence in our elections."

Trump's continued false statements about voter fraud are now at the point of trying to circumvent the will of the people. Fortunately, there are some, even within the Republican party, that are willing to stand up to his antics and respect the way our country chooses its leaders. I just wish more Republican leaders did the same thing.

Needless to say, those of us who live in Michigan have generally been following this quite closely. Palmer was one of the two who tried to get their vote rescinded, and on one of our local news channels they showed a post by her on Facebook a couple of years ago that was terribly racist [anti-black].

The fact that a suit had been filed in court by Trump was thrown out as having no evidence, and the fact that he now has tried to electors to not certify the vote is very telling, namely that there is no low that Trump will not stoop to, and yet so many in his base still support him, with many of them also claiming they believe in Jesus. Gee, I didn't know Jesus supported self-centeredness, racism, hedonism, and blatant dishonesty. [/sarcasm]

Michigan struck a severe blow to Trump's clever plan to destroy
the Electoral College system. The legislators' responsible action
will quell desire to amend the Constitution for a popular vote.

The demonsrtated POTENTIAL abuse of democracy in this attempt is just one more reason to dump the obsolete electoral college, IMO.

But imagine if Trump had actually turned them.
Now that would've inspired ditching the EC.

Many see him as a Jesus.

Many believe God Chose Trump to lead them.

About a third in U.S. see God's hand in presidential elections, but fewer say God picks winners based on policies
Since President Donald Trump’s election in 2016, some religious and political leaders have pondered God’s role in his rise to power. Trump’s former energy secretary Rick Perry has said the president is “here at this chosen time because God ordained it.” Evangelist Franklin Graham has said that “God was behind the last election.”

In fairness, many believed that about OBAMA also...

Amen. But at state level there seem to be quite a few now. Presumably they take some pride in their state and resent the suggestion that they are incompetent or crooked. That fellow Raffensperger in Georgia has had to endure demands from senior Republicans to resign, not to mention the predictable death threats to him and his wife, but he has stuck to his guns.

Giuliani and Sidney [sic] Powell seem to sound crazier and crazier, as the various legal gambits fail. Their lack of evidence has become too much even for the likes of *ucker Carlson. Now they're talking of a vast communist-funded conspiracy, involving Hugo Chavez, even though he has been dead for years.

    This is QAnon level stuff.

Yep, and when I was a Barnes & Nobles bookstore a couple of months ago, I saw two books that basically claimed that God chose Trump, and my feeling they should not have been in the "current events" section but in the "fiction section".

BTW, just for the record, I really don't believe that God gets involved in politics.

I frequently mention I have numerous problems with the "religious right", but let clarify what I'm referring to.

My general negativity for that element is not a reference to Evangelicals per se, but also towards congregants in other Christian denominations and other religions that take a "my way or the highway" approach, often matched with general intolerance towards any deviation from what may they believe in.

Are all in the "religious right" the same on this? No, as I have a disdain of stereotyping any group or person. Are some of them Catholic? You bet your sweet boopy. Are the always wrong? Of course not. Are they demonic? Nope, but some do push the envelop quite a bit;).

So, I'd thought it might be best for me to explain how I'm using that terminology.

I was surprised this morning when I saw Trump tweet: "Massive voter fraud will be shown!" accompanied by the statement from the Michigan leaders which implied they were going to support the vote.

Now, according to CNN, they stayed at Trump's hotel last night and are calling for a two week delay in certification...

Republican leaders ask Michigan Board of State Canvassers to delay certification of election results

    DETROIT
    – Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox penned a joint letter dated today to the Michigan Board of State Canvassers asking to delay the certification of election results for two weeks.

The period would allow for a full audit and investigation into potential voter fraud. Since the presidential election Republican leaders have made allegations of voter fraud without substantial evidence.
The scum keep trying to subvert the will of the people. And the sheeples keep going along. Apparently there are only three senior Republicans who believe their oath was to the Constitution and not to a wannabe king.

One thing to note: It is Republican party leadership in Michigan that is requesting delay. The elected representatives already said No to Donald. The good news is that the elected officials still have some morals. The party as a whole . . . not so much.
