15 Jehovah thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; 16 according to all that thou desiredst of Jehovah thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of Jehovah my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. 17 And Jehovah said unto me, They have well said that which they have spoken. 18 I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. 19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
Deut 18:15-19

This passages teaches

that the Messiah will be a prophet.

I'd like to point out to all-comers that this dir is not for heated debate and is for Christian comments only. Opinions may be put forward, but if there a lot of debate then please save it for Same-faith-debates, Religious Debates, Scriptural Debates, Biblical Debates etc.

It stands for 'Discuss Individual Religions' and comes from rule 10 of forum rules. (More information here: http://www.religiousforums.com/threads/rf-rules.170244/) The idea is that since there are people with different religions that each major group should have a space to calmly talk about things without dealing with sniping from the peanut gallery. If you are Christian, then you may post opinions in Christian 'Dir' areas for example, but Muslims may not post opinion. They may only post respectful questions in those dir areas that are not Muslim. It goes the same for the Muslim dir areas. Only Muslims may post opinions there, not Christians. Some dirs also have sub-dirs for more specific groups, such as Roman Catholics. In that case the Roman Catholics may post opinions both in Christianity dir and in their specific Roman Catholic sub-dir under the main dir.

Our dirs work on the honor system. Not every post is moderated, but if you post in a dir where you aren't a member your post might get reported and then lead to a warning or a warning plus a point infraction.

Debate questions and threads intended for debate should be started in areas marked for debate. For example if you want to take all comers on a debate issue you ought to start your thread in 'General Religious Debates', not in the 'Christianity dir' area. Otherwise people will be reticent to debate since they might get infraction points. If you strictly intend to debate other Christians or other messianics etc. then your area for your topic is Same Faith Debates. You may also start a journal in the journal section.

Of interest to 'Messianic Jews' is that if you are Christian, then the Christian dir is your dir even if ethnically you are Jewish. If you are not Christian and you are a religious Jew, then your dir is the Judaism dir. That dir is largely for religious Jews, not just anyone who is Jewish. This came about due to necessity and deciding what the nature of the Judaism dir would be, but it is not intended to imply who is or is not Jewish. Its a dir for non-messianic Jews, while the Christianity dir is for Christian messianics and all kinds of Christians.

For questions about the site, questions about moderator decisions, warnings or infraction points, technical issues, or other requests for assistance please start a thread in Site Feedback. In that section threads you start will only be visible to you and staff.
