So it use to be that Christians could say Jesus is the only messiah who died for your sins so this is proof he is the one the old Testament meant to send. But the issues is that of course there was a whole messiah movement back then and many were crucified for the remission of sins.

However Christian have come back with he is the only one who claimed to be raised from the dead. Of course I don't believe it. However I have heard other Gods and Messiahs were raised from the dead, I.m just wondering if someone could pu examples of who was raised from the dead before Jesus?

Osiris was said to have been killed by his brother Seth, was resurrected, and remains the ruler of the underworld.

I have proof here. There was a huge stone found in the Holy Land with writings about a group of Messiahs around Jesus time which insinuates Jesus could have been just a member of this group. They were all crucified and raised from the dead wow!

But the resurrection of the Messiah was predicted a thousand years before the birth of Jesus.

In the old testament which proves nothing. Just because it was for told does not mean much. Any guy could look at the old testament and write up the new testament on purpose to full fill the prophecy. But sense Jewish folk did not buy the story of Jesus, it is not easy for me to buy.

They do have a history and this rock that explains a whole entire messiah movement of Messiahs who got killed and came back to life, I'm thinking Jesus if he was real must have belonged to this group.

First, the publishing source causes me to question the legitimacy of the content. The article itself shows that it's truthfulness is in question.

The owner of the artifact David Jeselsohn, "who himself is an expert in antiquities" didn't know how significant it was until he involved an expert in the ancient Hebrew.

    Some expert.

The NYT, before the Russians exerted their influence in this county, was a much more reliable source.

Well really It does not matter if its true or not. I use to date a Jewish guy name Mitch who spoke about the Messiah movement back, then. There's lots of biblical experts who have. Then raises questions as to weather or not Jesus was the true Messiah or a member of one of the groups. He could have been.

Butt he question original intent of this thread was to find out if other Messiahs and God were sacrificed to death and rose from the grave. As you can see from the other relies we did not even need this proof so.

Heres a list of saviors and Gods who were sacrificed for the sins of the world and raised from the dead.
There's a book written about this.

Way back in the early 1990's I spent a great deal of time studying Islam and Arab culture and literature. I had a book with selections of Arabic literature that cast light on its Islamic culture. I no longer have this book, or I would cite it for you. But I remember this one historical rendition quite well.

It was the account of a Sufi Mystic named Al Haj. Or El Hajj or something similar. I doubt you;ll be able to google him, because if I remember correctly, it was a name that was kind of common.

Anyhow, he had many students/disciples. He went around teaching everywhere. Of course, being Sufi, he went against the conventional grain of Islam.

One of his most unusual claims was that he one with God. Now, if you read him very closely, it appears to me that he is saying he is spiritually in union with God, not that he was God himself, which would not be blasphemous, not really. But of course, the way he said it left him open to charges of blasphemy, and he was arrested and eventually executed.

The other unusual thing was that after his death there were reports of people having seen him.

The only remarkable difference between Al Haj and Jesus is that in the case of Jesus, the disciples rallied and became dynamic evangelists and formed a new religion, whereas in the case of Al Haj things just fizzled out. Why that difference is anyone's best guess. But you GOTTA admit, what an AMAZING similarity!!

Yes that's amazing! Suffism has come back on a small scale. We have a suffi dance group at our Indian Cosmic Cafe in Dallas that meets. Once a week they meet up there to discuss Sufi poetry, they turned me onto Rumi. I love Rumi poetry!

I think the gospel writers could have created the resurrection of Jesus to fit
in with the old testament prediction.

You need to check your resources. That stone says nothing about crucified messiahs, nor anyone being raised from the dead. It's so fragmentary they're still trying to decode it. But what they do say in this article from "Yale" is that it does "not" say what he originally quoted.

Its a well known fact that there was a huge messiah movement in that era with many Messiahs in the Jewish messiah movement. The bible says itself about not believing other Messiahs , if they say her eids the Messiah or there do not believe.

Why should I believe the bible when there were plenty of messiahs dying for our sins. and I'm sure many raised from the dead. For that matter there are plenty of Pagan Gods and Godesses who died and raised from the dead for their people as well.

Sri Krishna was never resurrected as far as my knowledge goes - he did resurrect Pariksit - the grandson of Arjuna who had been killed in the womb of his mother - some say his last godly act

This is not established dogma - but - here is the cliff notes version of the 10th Master - when he realized he was dying he transferred his powers to the SGGS - as the fountain of knowledge that would be the guide - for his followers

As Sikhs cremate the body after death - the same was done for him

Except that there were no bones or anything left after the process

People elsewhere coming to visit the 10 Master reported seeing him fully dressed as per usual and mounted on a horse as he stopped and spoke with them before going his way - the story is meant to convey the message that he is always with his devotees in spirit

And not resurrection per se - so apologies if it does not meet the intentions of the post

Hanuman - the monkey god - is said to be around after thousands of years - as long as the name of Rama is taken with reverence - Hanuman who is regarded as a foremost devotee - is around listening and enjoying the ceremony.

Many did, and they became Christian's. Christianity was mostly a Jewish movement for the first few decades.

Sin is an Abrahamic concept. This list is nonsense. I've never heard of Prometheus dying in a myth.
