I honestly doubt rick was talking for the whole staff. I wouldnt have such a fatalist view anyways.

Because historically, women have not had the privilege in many societies society that men have had.

Also, the purpose of feminism is to overturn bigoted gender norms, and push for equality. "Men's rights" activists on the other hand, seem to exist merely as armchair critics of feminism, and a reaction against progress on almost every issue. If men are really interested in equality as they claim, they can simply join in feminist discussions without having to have their own section of the forum.

And I suppose I am not entitled to my own opinion on this subject?

The staff operates on concensus and I have but just one vote.

? That essentially was the standard. Lots of interest? Check. Lots of threads dedicated to it? Check. Lots of issues with detractors derailing threads? Check.

    Thats literally false.

The feminism DIR is expressly NOT a DIR for anyone who believes in equality.

There are currently over 32 treads in the Feminist DIR, and from the looks of it, the Feminist DIR has only been up for a week or so.

By contrast there have been no worthwhile threads on the forums about these supposed "men's rights". The only one I could find is this one.

We should note that staff are individual people with their own positions, values & backgrounds.
So even though most are pinko commie fascists, we should not over-generalize.

There also has been a point made that threads were overtly avoided due to the lack of an area free of the likes of Rick and other more militant elements of this forum's feminists.

EDIT: The current state does send a message to those wanting to discuss family issues. The message: Submit to feminist dogma or get out.

I don't think that bashing the forum's moderators is appropriate here. Surely there is a more polite way for you to get your points across.

Besides it's their forum and they can run it as they please. If you don't like it, maybe you can start your own forum and hate on women as much as you want.

Most feminists are gals, & since they're more communicative than us mouth breathers (who often get by with just a few grunts per day), we should expect more activity among them. But our inadequacy should not be cause to deny us our own forum, free from the sniping & snarking of contrary minded folk. If you find us anti-feminist, then you could show your displeasure by boycotting the forum, thereby denying us your keen insight into manly challenges in this world.

As I've seen happen before, if there is too little activity, a forum may be eliminated. What's the possibility that menfolk might get together & share feelings, experiences, & civil discussion about their issues? Won't know til it happens....or not.

I dont think we should add a Mens Rights area as a reaction to the feminist DIR. I think we should add one if there is genuine interest in that topic. What you mention is partly why I am a bit sceptical to it being that case.

With the exception of a couple people in this thread, things have been civil here. And to treat us as children here that need be tested and watched like were just begging to "step out of line" is more than a bit insulting.

Honestly, I still don't see the big deal here. No matter who brought it up and why to begin with, the idea has sparked thought and desire on this board among many members. Reason for it exists, it is wanted, it has been explained why over and over. Where and what color and so on has been been addressed too. These things have been mentioned many times over in this thread yet the constant hammering of "why do you want it?" "prove that you need it" you only want it because..." is just getting ridiculous. Why, oh why, is there so much resistance to this? Honestly now people.

I would just want to clarify that while I am sceptical, I am not opposed either. Havent voted yet, not sure I will, because I remain just that. Sceptical but not opposed. So the staff shouldnt look at my posts as a "no" vote :p.

I wasn't bashing moderation as a whole. I am pointing out that his opinion and attitude towards men-specific issues is hostile, and many others(not necessarily staff) mirror his attitude with a regularity.
You must be new. Most here know that polite and me are rarely in the same room at the same time.
While that's true, I don't see this relevant to the discussion at hand. As a matter of fact, this with the beginning of the next statement is part of the "false choice" fallacy. That means you're losing the argument, then bring up this "false choice" as an alternative to addressing points made.
You have SO missed the point of having a masculist DIR here. Hating on women wouldn't be allowed in the first place, and if you think this is the point of masculism, you are ignorant of the nature of such a group.

One problem we're having is that putting this new DIR under The Political World would be quite odd next to the other five categories there, which are all very broad and established political movements.

So, most of the questions by staff members here are meant to actually generate discussion and get a better understanding of what is desired, to see if we can fit it elsewhere, such as under The Social World, and whether or not that'd be aligned with the expectations of members calling for such a DIR.
