Men Without Work

We Never Know

No Slack
Did you know that 1 in every 8 men (not in prison) in USA have had a felony conviction?
Did you know that for every unemployed male aged 25-54, that there are 3 who have stopped looking? Therefore unemployment figures are missing 3/4 of the problem.
Did you know that since WWII male labor participation has steadily declined around the world, not because of recessions or because of demand problems or because of the introduction of women into the workforce but for some other reason? It is a decline that is linear and is not affected by recessions, depressions, lack of education?
Did you know marriage is what keeps most males looking instead of not looking?
Did you know that most males not looking for work spend most of their time on entertainment?

Its a long video about a short book.

I travel a lot. Everywhere I go I see "now hiring" help wanted" and many say with "sign on bonuses'
In my opinion if anyone isn't working, its because they don't want to work because there are plenty of jobs.

But is it really? Many people that are disabled have to take expensive medications they couldn't afford if they weren't on Medicaid. Try to realize the big picture and not just your libertarian scope of view.
My view isn't just libertarian. Even conservatives
& socialists believe that those who can work should
work, rather than loaf at the expense of others.

It seems a hard point to convey, that it's about people
who can work but choose not to. Other posters
always try to morph what I say into denying assistance
to those in need.

I see the same with a lot of jobs here. It is often the case that those who work hardest earn the least.
Working smart is better than working hard.
To combine both can be great.
Workers should be aware that they're paid
largely based upon the value they add.
If they want more pay, pursue value.

Maybe you could have an acting career and give Astrid a run for her money!
Acting is a lotta work. I hear about what
they do to find work & perform. Yuck.
Might be worth it for some at the top, but
that is a rarefied few compared to most
working actors. (Bro-in-law was one.)

I know; I recall being surprised years ago to read that most actors could barely make ends meet.

My suggestion was in jest, but I'll take credit for it if @Audie follows through on it. :D

Its a long video. His point is that all of these men not working is itself a crisis, and he wonders how to resolve it and is asking people for help figuring out how to resolve it. He's not calling for a pity party.

If more help wanted signs will fix it then great.
