Meanwhile Ted Cruz chooses a bad time to go to Mexico.

A Senator does have a constituency. He may not have been able to do much, but he could have done a lot more than your average Texan. And then there is the idea of working together instead of deciding that while everyone else suffers is a good time to go to Mexico.
Seems you missed the "exactly" part of the post you replied to...

Best I can tell is that people are getting all worked up into making a mountain over an ant hill.
Wonder if the same epic mountain making fail will occur if he goes to Mexico to pick his daughter up....

His sedition is a separate issue.
It doesn't justify baseless criticism. about other things.
We must be fair. We may be cruel when deserved though.

Yes, separate issue. Nothing baseless that I can see.

Well, to be fair, here in Canada, when we are actually "locked down" with stay-at-home orders, no restaurants/bars, and even stores on main-street can only offer curb-side pick-up -- when a politician (someone who is part of the government ordering these things) then takes off and flies somewhere nice and comfy while the rest of huddle ----- guess what. He's gonna pay. And so he should.
He lives in Texas, not Canuckistan.
So different regulations apply.

Some of us are indeed objective, observant, & impartial.

I'll tell ya, the article reeks of a desperate need to find
something to criticize. Sure, Cruz is an awful guy (IMO),
but a non-essential politician takes a vacation?
Must be a really slow news day.

We here in Texas were hoping he would not come back. Disappointed again. Wow is one of the few completely clueless representatives that continued the belief that Trump won the election (even though trump thinks his wife is ugly) after the capital was invaded. Then he got mad when Texans put up a few signs that only said Resign now Cruz. I mean what is up with that. Sure it is true that the governor of Texas and the attorney general did there best to suppress the vote of minorities but what could be wrong with that when it was supported by the constitutional expert Ted Cruz sees no harm in it. Oh and lets not forget the police escort so is family could get the hell out of Texas when everyone was suffering. I am sure any Texan can as for a police escort just to get to an airport in time.

Oh and just because Ted Cruz accused Austin's governor of hypocritical behavior when he went down to Mexico for a wedding, this was different. Why should Ted Cruz or his family stay in a state where people are suffering. Ted Cruz clearly agrees with the ex president that the virus disappeared after the election so why cant Cruz and his family travel to Mexico for such a very very important mission. I mean really.

Cruz says he went on vacation amid storm 'to be a good dad'

He was just "Wanting to be a good dad, I flew down with them last night and am flying back this afternoon,” talking about his daughters vacation in Mexico.

I wonder if this will be remembered when he runs for reelection. As a lapdog of Trump perhaps he can get a pardon:rolleyes: I have a feeling that people may remember how out of touch he was. The good news is that he appears to be guaranteeing that Texas will go from "blue" to "purple" at the very least.

Thanks for reminding us here in Texas. We also have a governor who stated that the power failure was because of all that awful green energy like those liberal infested windmill and those leftist solar panels. He state crystal clear on the fact based new station FOX NEWs (an insult to my avatar) that is was all the fault that windmills do not work at all in cold weather. I is clear that the windmills in Iowa, Germany and Denmark are fake hoaxes that do not work when the temperature drops below 80 degrees.

To give governor Abbot credit when talking to the people of Texas he clearly stated that failure of the electrical grid and service was due to problems with natural gas, coal and nuclear power stations because of the cold weather. And he came up with a brilliant solution for us her in Texas. We need to depend more on natural gas for our energy since Texas is full of gas.

Lets make this clear. The electricity failure in Texas was because of green energy which was still working well during this arctic freeze with only 18 % failure compared to over 60 % failure of the electricity produced by coal, nuclear or gas with the natural gas plants shutting down the most of all energy sources. It is very clear to our Governor of this great state of Texas from this information that was clearly available to him that we need Texas to make more energy plants dependent on Gas. The logic is crystal clear here to our Governor. Green energy works better so it is obvious that Texas should go with gas, lots of gas and no one should blame him for the poor response to this crisis. It is everyone else's fault than his especially those unamerican liberals who are ruining the country with clean affordable energy sources that worked the best during this crisis.

I perused the article. It's a big nontroversy.
The only possible explanation for the criticism of Cruz is
that it's racist....because he's Hispanic.
I know this because when I pointed out that birtherism isn't
racist because of the example of Cruz (a white guy), who
was also subjected to it. But my leftish friends told me
it was racist too because he's a POC.
And what would you say about Ted Cruz criticizing another politician for doing the exact same thing he just did? Would that also be racist?

So I'm beginning to gather.

I always thought democracy was about us -- the people making the rules. Turns out that, at least in the US from what I can tell, that's not it at all. The demos seems to be all about worshipping their king/emperors. Has America really forgotten what it started out to be?

Oh you mean the Mayor of Austin. But that was different. That was during the pandemic. This was to escape from Texas during a pandemic and get away from all those suffering Texas he swore an oath to help. The difference is clear.

Hey that is not fair. The US fought a revolutionary war to lift the yoke of tyranny of a king just so we could ultimately find our king to create our own form of tyranny. Just because you Canadians did not separate from the Mother country and created a tolerant democracy and health care for all, does not mean you can criticize our country of immigrants that used slaves to build this great nation and forcefully displaced Native Americans with worthless treaties. We found a leader smart enough, well not really smart, egotistical enough to build a wall to keep out all of those *** immigrants from crossing the border. All you need to do is listen to the eloquent speeches of or Real president and not that Hoax called Biden or to read the poetry and honesty of trumps tweet that rival any Shakespearian play to know why so many Americas want their own king/emperor.

This police escort stuff is more criticism-worthy than the
vacation itself. He thinks he's royalty. Pbbbbttttttbbbttt!

I prefer to think of Cruz as a hypocritical thug.
As for racism accusations...I'm mocking them
as an over-used insult that ranks up there with
"Poopy head!" in actual significance.
