Matters about Salaat – Explanations by Promised Hakam & Adal (The Arbitrator & The Just)

DawudTalut

Peace be upon you.
Peace and mercy of Allah be on you……. Recently, the importance and offering of Salaat was reminded to the Community by Hazrat Khalifatul Messiah V (may Allah be his Helper). Many members, system of Jama'at and auxiliary organizations from many places wrote him there were indeed deficiency, they were regretful, and they shall make programs about it. Huzur (a.t.) prayed may Allah enable all to do so and our mosques really show scenes of population…..The administration should always remember that steadfastness is the condition to develop best results of any any work. In the start, many of us begin a work with lot of zeal, but after some time, laziness begins to develop due to raw-nature of human.

==

The development of laziness among individuals does not bring much dangerous results, though it is quite worrisome too, but the development of laziness in system is very dangerous. If the system for drawing attention of people begins to show lethargy or no interest to its duty, then it become difficult to correct laziness developed due to raw-nature.

==

Auxiliaries and the sytem of Community should make such planning for their work which take them to progess from laziness and weakness - and especially for the task Allah the Exalted has decalred purpose of our Creation [worship]. Our progress in worship brings succeses for us. So, it is very important matter. All system needs to be very serious about it. Women’s auxiliary Lajna Imai'llah should play a role in this too. They should supervise over children’s Salaats in homes and make them habitual to offer Salaats. They should continuously draw attention of men and youth boys of their house to offer their Salaats at the mosque. If ladies play their role, then there can be extraordinary change.

==

Huzur (may Allah be his Helper) said that he wants to correct the mistake of those who say they should not be told and asked about offering Salaats since it is matter between them and God. Some husbands get angry when reminded about Salaat at home…..No doubt it is matter between human and God, but to draw attention and to ask, is the duty of system of Jama'at; likewise it is task of wives rather it is obligation.

If it was only based on desire to offer or not offer Salaat -- [ excuses:we sleep deep at the time of Fajr Salaat, we are tired due to day’s work and sleep soundly at night, thus do not wake up us] – then Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) would not have told wife and husband that whoever awakes early, he/she should awake other for Salaat and if other does not wake, sprinkle water droplets. On some occasions Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) gave stricter warning. In previous Friday sermon (Jan 20) Ahadith were presented. Thus this thought is wrong that we are free in such matter and it is between us and God. The system they are attached to, if it asks for a review of its Jama'at about offering Salaats, then cooperation should be offered, instead of being agitated and getting angry. But it is wrong if person offers Salaats in congregation and boasts before the world about it.

==

The importance of offering Salaats should be clear to everyone and diligent effort should be made to practice it according to directive of Allah the Exalted and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be on him).

==

Some matters mentioned by Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) are presented here which are generally related to Fiqah (jurisprudence) or attention of an Ahmadi is drawn to them by him (a.s.) for practice.

By the Fazl of Allah the Exalted, people from various Fiqah join Jama'at Ahmadiyya Muslimah. In certain matters, what they used to practice, Jama'at Ahmadiyya does not practice that way because we have believed in Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) as Hakam [arbitrator: a person to whom the authority to settle or judge a dispute is delagted] and Adal [Just, Upright] thus we have to practice according to what he said and which is proved to be practiced by Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) and his companions (r.a.).

Among these matters, there is issue of Rafa Yadain (raising hands) i.e raising hands to ears at each Takbir of Salaat. These little things made sects upon sects….. Not only it, fights and fatwas of disbief for each other take place. If one offers Janazah Salaat for someone of other sect behind other Salaat-leader, clergies say person’s Nikah / wedlock is expired. These are not of old days stories, these are recent too. In recent news, in India, when people of a sect offered a Janazah Salaat lead by man of other sect, fatwa came that wedlocks of all people were expired, the whole village is doing their Nikahs again. Religion has been made joke and way of mischief.

==

Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) came to end all disputes. He said he is Hakam (arbitrator) and Adal (Just) and believe in me. He (a.s.) presented solutions, he permitted things which were of minor differences i.e. both ways were right. Thus about Rafa Yadain, he (a.s.) said: “No harm is evident in it whether one does it or not. In Ahadith, its mention is in both ways……….. It is evident that Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) did Rafa Yadain at some time and then left latter.”

Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) continued the more acted acts of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.). According to [observations and deduction from traditions in Community] Hazrat Sahibzada Mirza Bashir Ahmad [r.a. -- a son of Hazrat Promised Messiah a.s.] he (a.s.) did not do Rafa Yadain, he (a.s.) said Salaat offerers too should recite Sura Al-Fatiha (but not audible) behind the Imam in Salaat, he (a.s.) did not recite ‘bismillah verse’ audible and did not say ‘amin’ audible.

==

Regarding to fold hands while standing during Salaat, Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said he never liked to place folded hands below navel area, his inclination had always been to place them above the area. He said he repeatedly experienced that the search of Ahadith always found his inclinations were right even though he previously did not know it…..At this occasion, then, he (a.s.) asked Hazrat maulvi Nuruddin sahib r.a.[Khalifah I] to check for related Hadith, soon it was found with reference to Hazrat Abu Bakr (r.a.) and Hazrat Umer (r.a.) and there was no debate on it…The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) more times folded his hands above navel during Salaat.

==

Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) told a person that apparent etiquette are essential to observe but more attention during Salaat should be towards Allah the Exalted .

==

When asked about why index finger is raised in Tashahud of Salaat while sitting, the Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said that, in time of ignorance, people used to raise this while calling bad names. That is why it was called ‘sababa’ i.e. finger for calling bad name. God the Exalted reformed Arab, and remove that bad habit and asked to raise this finger when calling God ‘Wahid’ (The One) and ‘La Sharik’ (No associate) to remove accusation from it. Arabs used to drink sharab five times a day, it is changed with five times of Salaat.

==

Question was asked about reciting verses or prayer of Quran during Ruku and Sujud. Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) said Sajdah and Ruku is time of humbleness and Kalam of God the Exalted requires azmat / greatness. Additionally it is not proven from Ahadith that Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) read any Quranic prayer in Ruku and Sujud.

Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) said a lot of prayer should be done in Salaat. Prayer should be done in own language but whatever is proven through Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) it should be recited in very same words. For example, after reciting ‘subhana rabbeyalazim’ in Ruku and ‘subhana rabbeyal alaa’ in Sajdah, prayer may be done in own language. Quranic prayer should not be done in state of Sajdah and Ruku because Holy Quran is noble Kalam of God the Exalted and has exalted status, and Ruku and Sajdah is state of lowliness, that is why Kalam e Ilahi should be respected.

Someone asked Hazrat Khalifatul Messiah II (r.a.) that why it is not permitted to recite Quranic prayers in Sajdah, since it is state of very humblness (better place for doing prayers for acceptance)? He (r.a.) replied his creed was so too but latter a quote of Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) was found, in which he (a.s.) declared it not-allowed. A Hadith of this subject is found in Musnad Ahmad bin Hanbal…….Though Sajdah is state of extreme humbleness but Quranic prayers should not be read there. Prayer takes a person to downward, Quran takes him upward that is why saying Quranic prayers in the state of Sajdah is not-allowed. When a matter is found from Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) and Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) then it is not right to adopt a way against it even if our wisdom do not get it.

Peace be upon you.
If someone joined congregational Salaat late and Imam is doing Ruku, whether that person’s Rakkat is completed or not? We know, yes his Rakkat is done….. Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) asked opinion of scholars in gathering what various Islamic schools of thoughts have said about it. Then Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) said his way is that ‘la salaata illa befatihatel kitab’. Individual or being after an Imam, one has to recite Surah Al Fatiha. But one should recite in slow pace so that muqtadi / follower should hear and recite for his own too or Imam should stop after every verse that muqtadi too should be able to read the verse. Anyway muqtadi should be given time so that he can hear and read at his own too. It is essential to recite Surah Al Fatiha because it is Ummul Kitab. But a person, despite effort, join the Salaat during Ruku and could not join before, his Rakkat is done even though he did not recite Sura Al Fatiha in it because it is in Hadith that who found Ruku his Rakkat is done. Issues are of two types; at one place Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) stressed to recite Surah Al Fatiha in Salaat definitely. That is Ummul Kitab and real Salaat is it. But a person who joined in Ruku despite effort and quickness, his Rakkat is done, as said by Holy Prophet (s.a.w.), since foundation of Deen is on ease and softness. Surah Al Fatiha is not mentioned, person acts on waiver due to coming late. God has made my heart such that I feel stoppage for an un-permitted work and my heart do not want that I it. It is clear that when a person has found three parts full in Salaat and joined in one part due to a compulsion then what is harm. Human should practice granted permission. Yes, the person who is lazy at purpose, and delays to join congregation his Salaat is corrupted.

Recitation of Surah Al Fatiha behind an Imam in Salaat. Accroding to a tradition, Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) very strictly used to stress that it is essential for muqtadi to recite Surah Al Fatiha at own, behind an Imam in Salaat. He also said that despite he considered it necessary he did not say the Salaat of those who did not recite it, is not done since there were many elders and Oliya ullah passed who did not consider its recitation essential (at own while being after Imam in Salaat) and I cannot think their Salaats wasted.

In a letter, Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) said Salaat of a muqtadi takes place without reciting Surah Al Fatiha but the best is to recite it. If an Imam recites quickly then muqtadi should recite as much possible in low voice. If he cannot recite at his own, it is compulsion, his Salaat will be done but not at the best level.

Elsewhere He (a.s.) said To say amin loudly [after Imam finishes reciting Surah Al Fatiha] is better.

He (a.s.) said that in old era, all Ahadith were not arranged, they were excused ….. now it is solved….Surah Al Fatiha should be recited at own behind Imam.

==

About the sequence of Salaats when they are combined [zohar asr and maghrib esha]: Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) guided:

a) If late comer knows Imam is leading Asr Salaat, he should first offer his Zohar Salaat then join Imam. Similary if he knows Imam is leading Esha then first he should offer Maghrib Salaat then join Imam.

b) But if late comer cannot know which Salaat is being offered he should join ongoing congregational Salaat, whatever Salaat is of Imam it will be of late comer too. Later he should offer his earlier Salaat…. If late comer did not know which Salaat is being lead by Imam and it turns out to be Asr Salaat and late comer’s Zohar Salaat was due too. Though as rule no Salaat is offered after Asr, but in this special case that he did not know, he can do so.

==

According to a tradition: Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) used to offer Sunnah-Salaat and nawafil-Salaat at home, and offered obligatory-Salaat in mosque in congragtion, he did so till end. But he would offer Sunnah-Salaat in mosque when there were late comers completing their Salaat and there was no path or when he had to sit in mosque after the Salaat.

==

Can leading the Salaat be assumed as profession for money? Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) said, he has doubt whether Salaat of offerers takes place who offer it behind such Imams-of-salaat. Because it is openly proven that such leaders of salaat are using it as profession like opening a shop five times, and on this shop they and their family thrive. To gain such leaderships for certain place, lenghty fights take place.

Is Salaat offfered behind professional leader of Salaat right? He (a.s.) said Salaat is not right behind people who lead Salaat as profession, they lead it for bread-of-Thursday or salary, if not given they would leave such leading. If earning is gained with good intention then it is virtue. When a person gets harmony with a work, and assumes a solid way, trouble does not come, it become easy.

==

Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) said Remember as God has informed me that it is not allowed and absolutely not allowed for you to offer Salaat behind any mukafir (denier), mukazib (calling liar) or mutaradid (hesitant) and it is needed that your Imam should be that who is from you and towards it there is indication in a side of Hadith of Bukahri ‘imamokum mikum’.

Reason for no permission for offering Salaat behind others : He (a.s.) said the people who, hastley and by bad-assumption, have discarded this Movement which is established by Allah the Exalted and did not care so many signs, and remain careless about troubles upon Islam, they did not use Taqwa and Allah the Exalted says in His pure Kalam, ‘innama yataqabbalullaho minal muttaqin’ God accept Salaat of only mutaqi people. That is why it is said not to offer Salaat behind such a person whose own Salaat is not reachable to the station of acceptance..............They call us Kafir, if we are not Kafir then their Kufr return to fall back on them. One who call a Muslim a Kafir is Kafir himself. That is why offering Salaat behind such people is not permitted. Moreover, those people among them who are silent, they are included in them too. Salaat is not permitted behind them because they keep an opposing belief in their heart who do not join us apparently…………Do patience and do not offer Salaat behind who is not in your Jama'at. Goodness and virtue is in it and in it is your Nusrat and Fateh e Azim and it is cause of progress of this Jama'at. Look, in the world, displeased and mutually unhappy ones do not pay attention to their foe for some time. And your unhappiness and displeasure is for the sake of God the Exalted. If you kept mixed with them, then the special sight which God the Exalted keep at you, will not keep. When pure Jama'at is separate then progress takes place in it.

==

Hazrat Khalifatul Messiah V (may Allah be his Helper) prayed, may Allah the Exalted make us member of that Jama'at, by being pure which Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) wants from us…..Pray for Ahmadis in Algeria, it is new Jama'at, majority is of new Bait doers but they have very strong faith. They are facing a lot of severity from government, cases are made for nothing, some are jailed. The blame is that they are like Daesh –nauzobillah (we seek Allah’s refuge). In reality, if in any country, there exist peace loving and law abiding people they are members of Jama'at Ahmadiyya. But because they had to blame, attempt is made to call us like them. Police entered in some houses. A woman was asked to remove long head cloth, she replied, you may kill me but I will not take it off, neither I will leave Ahmadiyyat. Judges have reached to extreme unjust. Judge said to an Ahmadi if you deny Ahmadiyyat I shall immediately set you free. The person replied, I can die but will not leave my faith Ahmadiyyat beause I have now learned it is true Islam. At this judge said, since you said it, now I shall keep you in jail for all your life and your die there. The person said, fine, do what ever you want to do. These are cincumstances there these days. May Allah the Exalted produce eases for Ahmadis there and grant them firmness in feet, and return evil back upon opponents of Islam Ahmadiyya, and may Allah the Exalted keep each Ahmadi in His refuge from these oppressors. [Aameen]
