In John 14:15, Jesus says "If you love me, obey my commandments." Jesus did not give us the ten commandments, if that's what you were referring to. Jesus preached forgiveness of sin.

There are so many rules and supposed laws in the bible.

Here are just a few:
People pay the Lord a ransom-Exodus 30:11 (certainly not God's rule, sounds more like a religious invention to me so the priests can get rich)
Certain incense is reserved for the Lord-Exodus 31:38
Obey the sabath or die-Exodus 35:2
Animal sacrifice blood sprinkled on the altar-Leviticus 7:2
Never drink wine before going to the tabernacle-Leviticus 10:6
Do not touch snakes-Leviticus 12:43
Those with skin disease are supposed to tear their clothing and allow their hair to hang loose-Leviticus 14:45

I know the above rules are not those that you question about but my point is this: the bible is extremely old. It's intent was to give some ground rules to humans who lived thousands of years ago, humans who were by today's standards, ignorant.

If a person today still needs the ten commandments to know that it's not okay to sleep with another man's wife then honestly that person is spiritually equal to someone 2000 years ago.

It's time to evolve. It really, really is.

Ah-ha-ha. I got you there. To Orthodox Jew's those may still be the law(am I right guys?), but to Christians those laws don't count anymore because Jesus Christ came and fufilled the Mosiac Law(which those were) to them. So why are you quoting them? To Christians, they could care less about those, they aren't God's law anymore.

I may have assumed too much.

I quoted Old Testament whereas the question concerned New Testament. My mistake.

I'm on an Old Testament rant today.

Although the above questioned scriptures did not pose any rules?

They did pose rules, the Old Testament did, and that was the Mosiac Law for the Jews at that time, for a certain purpose. The New Testament also has a few 'rules', more actual commandments in it.

Sunday is a man-made day of rest. "Constantine the Great made a law for the whole empire (A.D. 321) that Sunday should be kept as a day of rest"
(Encyclopedia Americana, article "Sabbath").
see not God, Constantine the Great changed it to sunday cuz the people that worsiped the sun god worsiped on sunday and the christians worshiped on saturday so he made it to where only one day was to be used for worship and that day was sunday

look it up it a historical fact

The disciples met on the first day of the week (Sunday). Go find the verse.

There are only TWO LAWS:

Love God

Love Everyone else!

When in doubt recycle through the two laws above. :D

Not true (the part about Christians not caring about the OT). I know many Christians who still refrence the OT. Every Christian pastor I've listened to pulls quotes from the OT and the NT.

No it's not a historical fact (or rather it's a half-truth). Christian worship on Sundays long predates Constantine and can be seen in ante-Nicene Church writings. It was based on the day of the Resurrection. Sunday is not the Sabbath but Christians do not need to observe the Sabbath. Whether the Sol Invictus cult worshipped on a Sunday or not, then, is completely irrelevant. As to laws, of course the Emperor passed them. Who else would you expect to pass civil laws (and please note that the Empire was not Christian in Constantine's era, he merely made an edict that Christianity should be tolerated)? The majority of the bishops at Nicea (in Constantine's era) were confessors under the persecution of Diocletian, the most fierce persecution in the history of the Empire. Do you really believe that such people, who had been tortured and imprisoned for their faith would change the day on which they worshipped simply because a new, more tolerant, Emperor had granted Sunday as a civil day of rest to everyone in the Empire? Frankly, such a belief is completely ridiculous.

No, I'm saying that the Resurrection supersedes the Sabbath. Christ fulfilled the laws of the old covenant. You're just rehashing the same old arguments that were raised at the council of Jerusalem (in Acts) and it was the Judaisers who lost that one.

Jesus said it best:

John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." NIV

In two sentences we are given the only law we are under, AND the acid test for all true believers.

He also says love God and one another, and from this descend all the laws and all the prophets.
