Man Shoots At Cops In Self Defense, & Is Cleared

It's a matter of opinion. The basis for mine is
the number of cases wherein so few fellow cops
fail to intervene when civilian rights are violated,
& the department supporting the cops who do wrong.
By "bad cops", I include the ones who turn a blind
eye to injustice when supporting the worst cops.

Even if you disagree, & think most cops are good,
you're still safer assuming the worst, & conducting
yourself in a manner to preserve life & liberty when
interacting with cops.

Doesn't the mayor have oversight of local law-enforcement?
Did the Major Marty Walsh have any responsibility for what happened to George Floyd?

Are you kidding?
Despite having been disciplined for multiple sexual
assaults, he's keeping his job, but getting a 10 day
suspension.
This is what many many cops are like here due to
a near total lack of accountability. They're dangerous,
& they'll stay that way because the status quo remains.

Boston Police Sergeant Suspended For Statements On Body Camera During George Floyd Protests
Good grief, I don't like the police in the UK but the US seems to act like a far right militia.
I don't think giving them guns does much good but I'm not going there.

I seardched.
Didn't happen.
10 day suspension, despite his prior sexual assaults.
There is body cam footage with audio of a cop barking Simon says like commands at somebody wearing only a tee shirt and sweats who is crawling down a hall way pleading the officers not to shoot him, when the man stumbles, a policeman opens fire executing the unarmed man. The policeman was acquitted of any wrong doing. I am so disgusted in our justice system for allowing police to get away with murder.

Perhaps every cop should be accompanied by a social
worker (schooled in constitutional rights) who has an
OFF switch for the cop.

He was acquitted & not fired. So murderous behavior
is acceptable to police & the justice system. But he did
retire with a pension due to PTSD.
Apparently, murdering someone, & getting away with
it can be traumatic. Poor baby.

For everyone's sake, I'd like no direct interaction between police and motorists during traffic cops. Robotic traffic police would be ideal for issuing traffic citations.

I'm confident the U.S. will soon commission unarmed robotic police officers to serve as a safe intermediator between traffic law enforcement officers and motorists. We urgently need unarmed robotic police officers here in the U.S. where too many people possess loaded firearms.

There shouldn't be traffic stops for things that
can be handled by mail, eg, expired plates,
tail light out. Having cops detain people is so
dangerous that it should be avoided as much
as possible.
Robots could work though.

The use of "most" demands statistical proof because there's a vast gap between 'many' and 'most'.
Those so-called "good cops" enable the bad with their silence and defending them. They are enablers and accessories. Most cops are bad cops.

Would not the system work better if police did not have qualified immunity ?
Ideally, qualified immunity for the police officer would mesh perfectly with liability for the police department.

If a cop's actions are consistent with their training, then sure: that should be a defense for the cop... but also put the liability on the police force that trained the cop.
