Amazing Pictures, Pollution in China | ChinaHush

After looking at these pictures, I felt a mixture of anger and frustration. You and me could do all we can to keep our environment safe for future generations, while others just don't give a damn.

Is it possible for this kind of pollution, if it goes unchecked, to not in the end affect all of us globally?

Made in China, has dire consequences.

That stuff is crazy! I didn't realise the extent was that bad!

Why did China even bother wasting it's resources and people by making all this cheap stuff for the West, and further polluting it's own lands? I thought they were Commie's anyways!

It is horrible, but to be fair, what can we do? China doesn't hold high on the Human Rights list as it is.

Communists are just as greedy for a quick buck as the rest of us. Plus, as far as communism goes, China is doing it wrong.

Oh right. Cause I was always told tat Communists tend not to favour international trade etc etc. So I always wondered why China focused so heavily on mass-producing crap for the West.

Just think of all those people, all those resources, all those working days that could've gone to sorting China out, instead....... was put to use making cheap plastic toys for the West.

    That's really quite sad, TBH.

Right from the start the Communists in China had a "style" of government whereby the Maoists would get some crazy idea in their head - like transforming China into a global steel producer, or wiping out artifacts of "old ways of thinking" - and act immediately with no forethought, planning or study.

When it comes to "why" they've gone for rampant industrialization, I honestly don't know - probably somebody important decided it would be "good for the people" or "good for China" to industrialize and participate in global trade, so as always they did it with no forethought, planning or study.

To be fair, it would be difficult to argue at this stage that their strategy hasn't been good for China, at least in terms of accumulating geopolitical power and influence, as well as economic advantage.

Yeah but, to what cost? I mean not even including the mass loss of life, just think of all the health issues, and all the pollution, sky, water, and land alike that will plague not only China but other parts of the World too.
Also the Demographic imbalance where they're now got more Men than Women.

Of all the problems China is facing, and how much most of it's people are sufferring, what do the Government do? Build a big Olympic stadium and organize Military marches every 5 years.

But then again, to be fair, practically all countries have got their priorities totally, totally wrong.

    That's awful.

You should also see how they're treating their workers there but I think anyone can get the idea just by looking at the pics.

Ashame and part of it's our fault for having cheap labor over there as well as other cheap worldwide interests of trade and U.S. is in major debt to China for so much of the consuming but no way of paying.

I guess one could also blame it on their government but still there's some responsibility from the west in why China is in such a state.

    Exactly!!

The developed countries are highly responsible for this situation. We completely support the cheap labour and mass productions in China which keeps it alive. That's the price we all pay for our greed.

Slavery wasn't abolished in the world when the west decided to outlaw slavery. It was just conveniently moved into third world countries where the masses would forget about it and the elites could blame local conditions and governments for any abuses that occur.

This is what happens when international trade restrictions are zero, tariffs approach zero, labor laws exist in some countries but not others, and nationalism/country loyalty approaches zero. Welcome to the "world is flat." The "world is flat" has absolutely nothing to do with balancing/harmonizing the people of this world and everything to do with pulling the wool over the eyes of billions of people convincing them that it is a good thing to allow elites to essentially conduct business however they wish.

Cynical view of the world? Sure. But if there is anything that history has taught me it is that it is hard to overestimate the corruption of the wealthy of this world. It is possible to make the argument that most people would be this way; the increased power simply gives more chances for people to have their errors and flaws magnified, but I have trouble buying into any argument like that when things like the precursors to the French Revolution happen. A nobility that was so jaded that they thought millions of people could be killed without anyone noticing...

Not jaded enough yet? Coal and oil barons have essentially blocked the introduction of clean nuclear power for over a decade... Heck at this current point in time we have the capability to reprocess fuel down to the point that there are no radioactive byproducts (no radioactive waste). But nuclear power is "ScArY..." Or one can note that coal and oil power production kill more people in the United States alone every year than have died as a result of nuclear power on the entire planet in the entire history of nuclear power...

People will kill for money... The difference between an assassin and a lot of people is just that the assassin advertises this fact.

There is one thing going for China. It has a model to follow in the United States. Remember the river catching fire in Cleveland, and the legislation that was passed as a result? Maybe the nascent environmental movement in China will eventually have an effect on their government.

    Friend Heneni,

    Agree!
    however, who is responsible?
It is human greed that creates desires which creates goods for profits and for maximum profits due to which such manufacturing happens leading to pollution.
    Who can save it?
Again it is us humans who have to stop the desires and live only on needs which allows a healthy, wealthy life on this garden of eden.

These pictures should allow for reflections and meditations and finding the right, balanced solutions for better, healthier, wealthier and happy living.

    Love & rgds

I think I am going to be sick. From disgust at the pictures of the pollution and sadness for the people suffering.

Most of that pollution is from their disposal habits rather than their manufacturing processes. They are a nation of users just like we are. The only way to make a global impact on this is to encourage others to reuse, renew, and recycle. This only works if you do it yourself as well.
