Realising God within oneself takes a lot of time and investigations lasting years and years to be fully convincing. Not many people will have the patience to go through the process needed to determine that reality. It leads to surrender to God. Through such surrender one atttains a position where God is always there to guide one in one's life with ones own objectives of dharma to chart ones course. The dharma should be reasonable, practiced ethically, and with truth accommodation (oneness with truth) in mind. The truth path determines the dharma that one performs. When one does so one finds that God as Paramatma still guides one with the right thoughts surfacing in ones mind that helps one attain ones material objectives and aid one's survival.
When one has come to know God, one develops a simple life. This is because one is immersed in God as the only thing that matters - to have God always by ones side.
What more does a person want from God or from life. Simple living in austerity is the best way to keep one’s mind free of desires and attachments and attain contentment.
