I have a question and critique for the Forum/ How is it that every debate is between Atheists and Fundamentalist Christianity. I see posts that are always from a Fundamentalist Christian point of view Pagans, Atheists, Buddhists, Hindus and few others. But every Christian response I read is from a Fundamentalist conservative Christian view point. SO where are all our wonderful Liberal Christians?

I'm a moderate Christian, not a fundamentalist. I wouldn't call myself a ''liberal Christian,'' because that reminds me of politics. lol But, I'm not a fundamentalist, I don't believe the Bible in its entirety is literal.

There's a few moderate or liberal Christians here, like me. Do you have me on ignore or something? Lol.

Fundamentalists tend to have the biggest mouths and this forum has a habit of drawing wackos to it.

They frame their questions in terms of fundamentalist Christianity and don't want to hear about anything else. Its basically a witch hunt sometimes, and I don't feel like reinterpreting Christianity for people who just don't want to hear it.

There do seem to be a fair amount of Christians who question the bible or don't adhere to strict interpretation of religiosity, even those who might use a Jefferson style bible rather than the Catholic canon. Founders like Jefferson were likely liberal in their Christian belief, Jefferson literally cut out the passages for morality and the story of Jesus without the miracles or the Pauline stuff.
    The Jefferson Bible
Those who have a strict rule of bible infallibility seem to be the type less than willing to question beliefs, whether Catholic, Protestant or other denominations.

I run into some occasionally, but IMO, no one with an unbiblical view of Jesus is spiritually wonderful. The may be wonderful for a secular POV.

Maybe they cant defend their positions.

You like most liberals and non-Christians do not know what a fundamentalist Christian is. IMO, anyone who claims to be a Christian and denies the inerrancy of the Bible is a religious wacko. Where do you find your truth if not in the Bible?

I would like to hear you to define "fundamentalist" and "Christian." I doubt if you can.

Actually those who insist on Biblical infallibility are the ones most likely to question any belief not supported by Scripture. That was one goal of the reformation. One of the battle cries was "sola scriptura."

I think this is probably so for a lot of Christians.

Depends on where you draw the line on liberal and conservative. I'm pretty liberal on some issues of faith, but rather conservative on others. If I must wear a label, I suppose moderate would be most fitting.

I would say it depends on if you go to church and where. To me if you belong to a church that teaches Sola Scriptura, perfect word of God its conservative.

I do know there are those who are both conservative and liberal because to some extent I am. I'm a libertarian, and lean both ways. I do believe in the right to own guns.

Even though I support Prochoice , womens right to decide her body is hers, privately I don't believe in abortion. Its wrong to me anyways.

The subject is not about who is a Christian. The subject is not about the size of the font. Are you going to answer the question of just beat around the bush?

Do you know what a fundamentalist Christians is?
