"Positive or negative" are but subjective terms. CRISPR is yet one of many emerging technologies to defy even human nature (how do we do it?). But our creations are only as bright as their creators, however there may be an evolution impetus to what we incarnate. The Tyrell Corporation realised this aeons ago when they knew that Replicants would evolve emotionally, fully resentful of born slave status.

Until they were declared illegal on Earth. How would you feel about cloning yourself?
I would like to clone myself. I would like even more to live for a much longer time. But above all I want to block climate change from dooming a huge part of humanity.

Not only climate change, but the whole litany of modern afflictions. They seem to confound any desire for longevity, but I know it's a driving force to life. I'd clone myself if I knew more cerainly that the Earth would be not just be a satisfactory habitat, but a paradise for my progeny. Optimally, I would live as long as "it".
