Largest Planet-Killer Asteroid To Approach Earth This Month Arriving On Saturday

It's labeled a potentially hazardous asteroid, but they say there is little chance of it hitting Earth. But there is still a chance it could hit, causing massive destruction and a potential nuclear winter lasting for years.

So, tomorrow morning at 6:05a EST, we will find out.

Could this be our last day on Earth?

They repeat those shows all the time.

But just in case I'll grab an umbrella if I see one.

    :O)

3.6 million miles? You realize that's something like 15 times as far away as the moon, right? We've had a number of asteroids come a lot closer than that (although not as big).

    I'll sleep well.

It's end days; Storm Denis and an asteroid this weekend and I'm off to Liverpool - tin hats needed I fear.

Sometimes I wonder, though. If there really was an asteroid on a collision course with Earth, would they actually inform the public? Would we even want to know?

I think some people would want to know so they could gather with family members for the final moments. It's kind of silly to think it can't happen considering the amount of aststoids traveling through space and the history of previous strikes. Look at Jupiter a few years ago.

The irony of this post is I watched an old 50s SciFi movie last night
"When Worlds Collide" which by the way shows a complete lack of understanding of how things actually work, but it was entertaining in its naïveté

Yeah. It was what, just a few years ago when a big one passed between the Earth and moon?

Individually, today could be my last day on earth. Years ago I read of a guy filling his waterbed, he fell asleep on the floor as it filled, it overfilled, rolled out of the frame, and killed him by smothering him. That was his last day on earth.

My point? **** happens, don't worry about things out of your control, it is wasted time and emotion.
