Kachol

Does anyone know if there is anything other than a coincidental link between the use of the color blue as representative of the state of Israel and the word "kachol" (like sand) which is reminiscent of the the blessing that the Jewish people will be numerous like grains of sand?

I am recalling two separate songs -- one I sang as a child
KACHOL VELAVAN - Jewish Songs | Hebrew Songs

and one is a standard post-havdalah song
HaMavdil Bein Kodesh L'Chol המבדיל בין קדש לחול

Interesting idea. From what I know, the color was chosen because of its similarities to techelet.

I had assumed something similar (though I hadn't checked the etymology of kachol or seen if it was the primary word for "blue" as opposed to anything else). That would make this a really neat coincidence. Or not...
