Peace be upon you.
Based on recent concluding address by Hazrat Khalifatul Messiah V (a.t.) at Annual Convention (Jalsa Salana) Canada...It is about true Islamic teaching regarding equity and justice, why in early Islam war was permitted, what should be done now, wrong practices by various groups, responsibilities of Ahmadis for world peace while dangers of world war are seen on the horizon.

Peace and mercy of Allah be on you…..Today’s world think that the status of religion is secondary and if we have to make progress, we need to think by being away from religion, and not only this, the reason for the ongoing discord in the world is religion. At the same time, worldly people admit, and it is taught in schools too that human learned fundamental morals from religion and to make human civilized and moral, there is hand of religion, not of any philosopher.
In other words, the people who have such thoughts, they are trapped in a paradox. On one hand they are against religion, on the other hand they admit that in making human to have morals, there is hand of such people who said Allah the Exalted sent us with this teaching and with these morals i.e. Anbiya (Prophets).

So in reality, there is very great role of religion and prophets in giving moral values to world. Though, after some time, the teaching of the prophets was forgotten, repeatedly and people or their leaders adopted some morals and laws while left others.
Anyways, Allah the Exalted sent Prophets in each people -- who along with people’s spiritual and moral progress -- played part in the development of their civilizations. Clever people and leaders adopted some morals but left ruhaniyat part (spirituality, soulfulness, connection with Allah). As the result, decline continued in religious and spiritual conditions of people. This decline in the teachings of religion, in each people, came due to the priority of religious scholars and leaders. They put aside teachings of religion, and brought forward their priorities. It also resulted in fall in religious teaching.

In fact the teaching of Allah the Exalted cannot be different for each people. When He says I sent Prophets in each people, it is obvious the Prophets sent by Him must have had brought one teaching, which is worship of Him and goodness in mutual human relations.
Many people, journalist or non-Muslims, ask question about Islam, I tell them, Huzur (a.t.) said, the essence of Islamic teaching is same (as above). It is told to us by Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) in short, that pay right of God the Exalted and love Him, pay rights of His servants, and treat them with kindness. Each religion has given this same teaching, and Islam’s teaching in this regard is superior to all and the greatest. Thus it is what religion is, and Islam is flag-bearer of it more than others.

Then how can we say that reason of worldly discords is religion and especially in this era, due to Islam and Muslims, world is in state of turmoil….It has no farthest connection with truth. This state of mayhem is not due to teaching of Islam, but we can say this state may have taken place at some places due to some Muslims’ acts.

In the past two centuries, the world has witnessed two world wars. Was the religion reason for these wars or it was the desires of leaders and political and geographic conditions and greeds?.
In this current era too, which Islamic country makes arms and weapons of extremely high quality? These are the advanced countries and big powers which make such weapons. Then these are sold to third world countries and Muslim countries. This material is sold to governments and anti-governments elements too. Huzur (a.t.) said: Whenever I asked the politicians about this, they answered me, you are right……. They are silent and have no justification.
Even if Muslim countries have become places of discords and wars, there is role of super powers too, as the weapons are purchased either from them or from East-European countries. Everyone knows but does not stop. How can they stop because they sell too. When they are told you are selling weapons to certain government, and those weapons are being used against a small country and becoming cause of oppression, they say we do not care, our business is legal we are not selling secretly.
If Islam says this answer is wrong, blame is placed at Islam.

What is the standard of Islam? Islam says, any work even if it is permissible, if it is being done at wrong occasion, it becomes non-permissible that is why Allah the Exalted has greatly stressed to do ‘aml e saleh’ [good/appropriate act] . True believer is the one who does permissible work at permitted occasion with good intention.

Huzur (a.t.) said: Few days ago, a journalist asked me question here that we do not know teaching and details of Islamic teaching, you say Islam is only guarantee of world peace but these days what is seen is completely contrary to it, how can it give such guarantee? I told him, you have used all worldly methods but could not establish peace. Muslims too are not practicing the teaching of Islam, that is why they too are passing through state of discord.
If true peace has to be established, then Islamic teaching asks to uphold extremely high standard of justice. A standard of establishing on justice is mentioned in Holy Quran in these words:
[4:136] O ye who believe! be strict in observing justice, and be witnesses for Allah, even though it be against yourselves or against parents and kindred. Whether he be rich or poor, Allah is more regardful of them both than you are. Therefore follow not low desires so that you may be able to act equitably. And if you conceal the truth or evade it, then remember that Allah is well aware of what you do.
So it is the standard which executes justice by rising above the personal interests that do not see your own benefits and even if your own people are harmed for the sake of truthful matter, even then do not mind. It is a matter of principle, which should not be taken only for individual or domestic level, rather for the wider interest of humanity. It should be extended to countries and governments.

What is taking place in the world now? The people who deliver great lectures on the name of justice what do they do? They are doing things for their own benefits. One big power supports a government; the other big power backs anti-governments groups to keep their superiority in the region. For example arms worth billions of dollars were sold to an Arab country by various countries while they know it is being used for the destruction of a tinny country.......Thus here Muslims too are drifting away from justice to fulfill their desires despite claim of having Islam, and non-Muslim powers too are going away form justice to quench their desires and creating unrest…… For such reasons, there is state of mayhem in the world.
Those who are given the chair of justice, they are scattering debris of justice. The why blaming religion, especially Islam?

Huzur (a.t.) said: Occasionally when I get chance, I tell them if you do justice, peace can be established in the world.

Islam instructs about justice so much that standards provided by it cannot be matched anywhere. At the moment, all aspects of Islamic teaching cannot be stated, however certain verses of Holy Quran will be presented, in which Allah the Exalted has established the standards to create justice, remove irritations and istall peace. Indeed it is the teaching which guarantee the peace of the world.
Allah the Exalted says:
[5:9] O ye who believe! be steadfast in the cause of Allah, bearing witness in equity; and let not a people’s enmity incite you to act otherwise than with justice. Be always just, that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah. Surely, Allah is aware of what you do.
This is the standard which reaches to heights.
Let alone enemies, we see in the world, even governments do not honour their agreements. On one hand they extend hand of friendship and on the other hand if benefits are not obtained, they plan to inflict damages. Someone can say national interests are to be seen first anyway and are essential. No doubt, national interests should have priority, but then justice requires that matter should be told to other in clear terms and should be made clear that now it is not possible for us to honour the agreement. It would be justice. It is not justice to show apparent friendship but secret attacks are being made, plans to inflict harm are being made.
Allah the Exalted tells that pledge is a trust and it is essential to fulfill it. We are fortunate, in this era, who accepted the Imam of the age who has guided us rightly. He told us that the root of discords is not religion and its teachings. Rather this root is having distance from religion and God the Exalted.
To exercise religious teachings, there is need to work by rising above own interests, unjust should not be done to get own benefits… If one does so there would be destruction.
