What significance does Joseph have to Judaism?
Joseph was used by G-d to save the nation of Israel during a great famine and was instrumental in reuniting the tribes after his brothers brought a splitting of the family. His actions merited his two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, to be counted as equal to Joseph’s own brothers as families. His descendants (often referred to as Ephraim in scripture) lead the Northern kingdom. And one of his descendants, the Moshiach Ben Yosef(Joseph) will lead Israel in the prophesied war against Gog and Magog that will usher in the future Messianic age of universal peace.

He is a major character in a monty python like skit in the bible actually!! They end up in the correct locality in spite of themselves even though every character including Joseph bumps into the furniture entirely along the way. Not a single action of magic in the whole entire story. That's a rather remarkable story and worthwhile understanding.

Shouldn't people be able to visit any recognized religious sites they feel like?
How about those darned Abrahamic religionists stop politicizing religious sites?
The "Holy Land" is full of religious mine fields. Like Jerusalem and such. I think that the Human Race would be better off if those places were treated as religious sites.

But the people who think that Jerusalem should be the capital of Israel, and don't care how much damage that causes (because God), aren't any better. IMNSHO. It's just a bunch of dang religionists who care more about their feelings than they do about peace.
